What front strut brace do I need for a vRS ?

Cheers Dan

I had a Forge adjustable front strut brace, the thread was made of chocolate. I would only get a solid one next time.

I'd weigh up any handling benefits compared to more weight under the bonnet myself.

The one thing the Fabia mk1 doesn't need is more front end weight.  Unless you really need it.

Without semi slicks and decent suspension I doubt you'll see any real benefit.

But it's a nice treat to buy your car if you are looking to spend a few pounds, a lot of people have them.

But hey, that's just my opinion. :)

For the purpose of looks... yeh

Once ive done clutch.flywheel. Brakes. Suspension. I might get one for looks

for expecting handling. Id spend money on rarb. Tyres. Suspension first

Is there anything you can do in the engine bay to offset some of the weight your adding with a farb?

I'm thinking of them for mine..do you have to buy both to get the benefit?

I was thinking of ripping out the air filter rocker cover and using an aftermarket filter (for weight only...not the 17 year old K&N ive added 300bhp to my 1.1 saxo approach.... :giggle: )

You only need to buy a rear arb . I went for whiteline amd its spot ln.

the fabias don't have a rarb. Only a front one.

don't think there would be much weight gains to be had from swapping air filters. Really. And I guess you mean you will remove the engine cover not rocker cover (or things will get oily amd hot amd sieze and go on firell lol)

Bought one, all it did was turn me in to a stressed creak and rattle hunting idiot.  Made everything that already made a noise when going over bumps much louder and created many more opportunities for things that didn't rattle before to rattle.  I am slightly OCD when it comes to rattles and squeaks though.

Aaron, it's just a plastic lunchbox, it really isn't that heavy given that your front end is already much lighter than a VRS, however because you have a N/A petrol engine a proper CAF and enclosed cone filter MIGHT actually benefit you to the tune of a few BHP and give a bit of induction snarl as well, you'll have re-route the breather to a catch can or somesuch but you can still have fun with it. You don't need a strut brace, the Fabs pretty stiff already.

I don't think I saw any benefit at all when using my 1.9TDi around town, country roads etc, Richard. I took it off to do some work and forgot to put it back on for Combe but I reckon the only thing that would have helped me there is a RARB. And bigger brakes. The two things that would have helped would be a RARB and bigger brakes. And a remap. The three things that would have helped me there would have been a RARB, a remap and bigger brakes. And more experience. The FOUR things that,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, :D
