140 bhp! Don't think so

Featured Replies

I know what you mean Jas, my standard Octy vRS seems a lot quicker than the stated 180bhp for some reason.

Likewise my SDI

anyway I'm intersted in the 0-100km/h tests with the 2.0..maybe someone did this and can post their numbers ?

In Finnish car magazine (Tekniikan Maailma) they got 0-100 9,2 sec with driver and passanger.

Being honest, what does it matter if its 140 hp or 145 hp, and 0-60 in 9.5 or 10 seconds?

Ok point taken

There's nothing like a good discussion about claimed performance and the findings of rolling road tests to get you thinking but it's no substitute for your own experience of the car on the road, right. As Kentish says the figures are irrelevant. I've seen the light.

Some people can drive diesels exactly the right way to maximise performance and others are still learning (me included). The best weapon I will have on the road come October will be a Skoda badge and the element of surprise (not that i'm a road rager or anything).

I'm just looking forward to getting and enjoying my new OctyII 2.0 Tdi 155

I bought a 110 Ocky Mk1 TDI in Feb 200. I still chuckle at the looks of amazement from drivers of BMW "Cortinas" and similar as I left them standing at lights or on Motorway slip roads. Many just had to overtake me to save face.

Still have fun with the Mk2 105 TDI.

My standard Furby vRS got 129.7 from the JBS rollers in April. I think I might write to Skoda asking for some compensation for the lost[/i'] 0.3bhp ;)

Isn't it 130ps, which is about 128bhp so you should be boasting about gaining almost 2 bhp? ;)

And it's not just the Skoda engines which "overread", have a look at the Ford boys' cars - all running 150bhp from their standard 130bhp TDCI's
