Boot size; hatch vs estate

Featured Replies

does anyone know if the boot floor plan is the same in the estate as it is in the hatch?

Thanks

It depends what you mean by floor pan, yes they are the same, but the shape of the internal boot floor is slightly different.

This is why there are two boot mats available, one for the hatch and one for the estate.

I used to have both a hatch and an estate at the same time and can confirm both mats fit the two different cars, however it depends how picky you are. If you want a 100% perfect fit then I recommend you source the correct mat.

The only difference is around the cubby holes / storage compartments and along the rearmost edge where the warning triangle (estate) is stored, but we are only talking 10-20mm.

Should I have had a warning triangle when I bought the car then, being an estate owner (pre FL)?

Nope, had to buy mine extra.

Fair enough.

As the warning triangle isn't a compulsary requirement in the UK it isn't fitted as standard.

The storage location in the hatch is in the right side cubby, in the estate it's at the rearmost point of the boot where the rubber tether straps are.

Thanks both. Not sure I have those straps either..

My 2012 FL hatch has the rubber tether straps just under the boot latch.

My 2012 FL hatch has the rubber tether straps just under the boot latch.

And my 2008 estate has them in the RHS cubby.

On mkII the warning triangle went in the right hand cubby with the first aid kit.
