High mileage vRS

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've found a thread for the MkI vRS but not an equivalent for MkII, so I am starting one - sorry if my search skills are subpar and there is duplication!

Ok, to the meat of the matter - what are your vRS's respective mileages and what work did it need?

43k miles total

10-11k miles with me at the wheel (1 year)

32k miles with the single proper previous owner Full Main Dealer History on Purchase

few miles with Skoda Dealer as demonstrator

Since I've had it I took it to DM Keith Huddersfield to solve a few annoying rattles (touch wood since then no reoccurance.

Joined Briskie

began modding the car (see my sig for details)

New Vredestein front tyres after 3-4k of owning.

serviced @40k NGK Spark Plugs, Castrol EDGE FST Oil and filter, ATE Super Blue Brake Fluid.

From 32k - 40k topped up 3/4 litre.

Regularly cleaned

Regularly "driven"

Apart from a one off spike in oil consumption over a month or so of the coldest weather this winter so far, utterly trouble free.  Car feels great.

Just ticked over 24k here had the car from new 2.5year ago

19,300 - car is three years and three months old. I don't think I'm going to win :P...

Clean bill of health apart from corroding chrome alloys.

50,000 miles in my first one, and it has a new track rod end (that I don't think it needed!) under warrenty... no other problems..

14,000 miles in the new one, no problems.

Mine is at 38k now and it needed a new fuel pump - or two of them to be precise, the second one lasted only 1.5k (probably faulty part). Apart from that regular replacements of stuff as dictated by service intervals

Mines at 21300 and rising at about 300 miles a week.

I got her at 9000 miles Feb this year.

No problems. Not spent a penny on it. (Skoda service plan included at sale)

Fingers crossed it stays like this!

Mine is just about to clock 19k miles (service due imminently) No work that I am aware of, but I've only owned it since Sept. (First registered March 2012)

Question to all of you high-mileage ones - are you considering/did you go for any engine cleanup? Like preventive carbon buildup removal + turbo vanes clean... I am thinking whether it may be worth doing to improve life of the engine?

In a word nope, I'm trusting in quality fuelling and a bit of passion behind the pedal to see me through

Thanks for the edit. ;-)

nah, modern oils at 10k service intervals, and proper "super unleaded" fuel, i think will keep it well clean, and Sparkly, there's no other way to drive it than flat out is there?! ;)

Mine is approaching 47k miles now, got it last year with mid 2012 with 30k on the clock. Had the engine replaced under warranty a couple of months after getting it and had no problems since!

Going to get an early brake fluid change as the brakes could feel a bit better than they do now, then polybushes are going in and onto springs/dampers and RARB later this year hopefully :)

Interesting - could you elaborate what was the reason to change the engine?

The previous owner worked in the garage I bought the car from, but I guess didnt know much about the issues and fixes involved (or couldn't be bother to sort it properly) and traded the car in. When I purchased it the car had already had the piston rings replaced because of high oil usage. After a few weeks I knew it was a bad engine and was using around 1.2-1.3 litres of oil per 1000km which is well above the limit. Next step was oil breather fix followed by consumption test and it was better but still above the 500ml per 100km limit. So new engine under warranty, and its a lot better. Still uses a bit but its more than acceptable!

Good to hear you got it sorted, Paddy.
