quite upset

Featured Replies

My renewal came last week and it had gone up slightly due to an ongoing claim from last march but I was expecting it. I phoned to alter a few details as i lost my job at the end of november, so status changed to unemployed, mileage dropped and commuting changed to sd&p.

to be told no one will now insure me because i am unemployed, I asked does this matter if I am paying up front and apparently i am a greater risk for not driving as I dont have a job then when I was doing 50 mile round trip to work every day.

so now adrian flux wont insure because i am unemployed and no one else will insure because I am unemployed and have an ongoing claim through an adrian flux broker.

  • Adrian flux are telling you a load of crap. Plenty of places will still insure you when you are unemployed. Use one of the comparison sights as a starting point

Can';t beat a damned good kicking when you're already at a low ebb ey?

Lovely. :@

No doubt one of them will be along shortly asking you to e mail them so they can look into your case.

So if you had £10,000.000 in the bank, your unemployed  cos your stinking rich and no one will insure you

No point doing the lottery , just incase I win and can buy a car

Unfortunately the car is modified, so most comparison sites dont work.

i wouldnt mind but the only thing that changed from the renewal i was offered is that im now unemployed.

i have tried the other insurance companies from here and although they dont mind the mods, the fact im unemployed and have outstanding claim through adrian flux goes against me.

oh and since last year apparently my area has turned into down town johannesburg.

Time to change car and move out'a town!

barring you for being unemployed is discrimination.

Sadly unemployment is classed as a higher risk. As is being retired.

Sadly not much you can do but search for someone else, but premiums will sting.

Doesn't it still need 3rd party insurance even if SORN?

  • Author

You dont need any insurance if sorn only if taxed. But i am hoping that as it is already taxed i will get away with dropping mileage right down, and a family member has a drive i can store it on.

it will be last resort and depends on costs of everything.

Doesn't it still need 3rd party insurance even if SORN?

No, SORN needs no insurance at all.

Obviously there is a slight risk to the owner though if something happens to it.

Are you married? If she works could she not insure it and have you as a named (not main) driver?

Doesn't it still need 3rd party insurance even if SORN?

Why would you need insurance if you cant use it on the road  :D

local chavs and spontaneous combustion (TPF&T) :D

Im not married no, but i wander how much it would cost to put it on my mums name who is a pentioner that has never driven but has a valid provisional. Bet its cheaper lol.

Why would you need insurance if you cant use it on the road  :D

For some reason I though the law changed so even SORN vehicles needed insurance.

It changed so that Taxed vehicles need insurance all the time, not just at the point of being taxed.

Why not become a sole trader selling used socks (Or realistically something you're good at).

That way you're no longer unemployed, even if your new job is cleaning letter boxes for old ladies.

Lol i already enquired about something similar and because i already enquired about unemployed quote they want evidence of employment.

I.e pay slip so i guess i would have to be vat registered first.

Nope even Flux should know what the VAT threshold is. You won't be giving yourself a payslip as a sole trader either. Time to move on to another insurer.

VAT registered... only if you're bringing in a lot per year (IIRC it's north of £70k a year).

I think you need to find yourself another insurance company.

Try Sky Insurance, they are another insurance trader on here, maybe might have a different view on it...
