Clutch pedal on the floor!

Featured Replies

Well as the title suggests my Superb's clutch pedal is on the floor of the car.  I managed to get home last night but revers stopped working and had to pull the pedal up with my foot.

Skoda Assist are on their way and I am assuming it is a hydraulic clutch as I had the same problem on a Leon Cupra a few years ago. :(

Yep, and the failure is most likely the same, Master Cylinder gone.

Hopefully it is the master cyl and you have not been dumping clutch fluid all over the clutch and DMF!

I hope so too, it is at the local Skoda service place but wont get looked at till tomorrow.  It made a funny wheezy whistling sound for about a minute or two last night before the clutch finally gave up the ghost this morning when I tried to get off the drive.

Are your brakes ok?...the reason i ask is that the oil comes from the same reservoir for both...and if you have no fluid left in the reservoir, your clutch would pack up and the funny noise might be the ABS pump trying to draw fluid from an empty reservoir.

Check you brake/clutch reservoir level.

Well the saga continues!  I had the system bled by local dealer who were fairly useless.  I then attempted to drive to Ayr to get the car back to Ingrams.

The clutch gave up on the roundabout between the M8 and A720 so I stood there in the cold for 90 minutes then got a ride to Ayr on a low loader.

The Master cylinder has been changed, some seals which are a known weakpoint to Skoda UK have been done but again this morning the clutch was away.

On Monday the gearbox comes out so they can change the slave and they are doing the timing belt at the same time.

Hopefully will be back to work on Wednesday.

In the meantime I am in a Fabia estate Scout thingy with 103 miles on it when I got it.  It is tiny compared to the Superb and our CRV but pretty competent and a smart wee thing.
