Offered civic type r

Featured Replies

Just been offers for a honda civic type r for my vrs the honda has 93k on the clock it's red black wells facelift model looks pritty nice.just want opinions on this really guys the thinks I like about the vrs is lods space for the kids boot is huuuuugeeee which I like plus the power is great from it a dnt really see any down sides to my vrs so what is the type r like compares to this is power good? Does it match up well to my vrs reliability? ( big factor in my opinion one big reson I went for my octy as there reliable cars also the other thing is selling price would I get more money for my skoda than a type r I rekon type r would prob be a gd car if I was to resell it?

All i can say is go for a drive in it,

Unless your boucing it off limiter all time there gutless and thirsty

Thts another thing I get good fuel with my vrs like 30 ish around town n over 40 on the mway wats the type r like on fuel?

take it! seriously

assuming they are the same age/mileage, the honda is going to fetch a bit more and probably be easier to sell

all the power from a honda comes at the top end, great fun ragging it but boring and underpowered at low revs, and they drink petrol

Handle a lot better than an Octy, not for me though like the low down power of the VRS (even better if mapped) than having to rev the nuts off a V-Tec.

Wish people wouldnt assume vtec engines have no power. The type-R is plenty powerful at lower revs

Mate just got rid of his due to the 8mpg when hooning! 16-20 on a good run.

Keep the vrs. Your fillings will appreciate it!

Surely this point should be driving you the most?

Hondas are bombproof

If you fancy a change go for it :)

The type -R would be great for a few weeks then the fuel bills from revving it out all the time and the spine surgery after a few months should be enough to put you off I've driven a lot of Type R's and all be it civic EK3, EP3, Integra old and new and even the Accord are very hard cars. The Accord is the nearest to a vRS to compare. Have a drive of the type R just don't get seduced by the engine as it is fu*&ing brilliant, the rest of the car is not as good as the engine.

this is the prob most reson I would keep my vrs is it perfect for the kids and boot is massive and it's fast well uv had a few cars in the last 3 or 4 years which included a renault 5 gt turbo starlet gt turbo clio 173 cup and a subaru wrx wagon and out the lot the vrs ticks all boxes for in my opinion looks, power, reliability, space, and fuel but the main reson the type r intrestes me is the money it's worth they don't deprecate like the skoda or the subarus etc etc plus it's new and also reliable

only had my vRS for a few days,, and even with the niggily little issues im yet to sort... i wouldnt even consider trading it for a type r..

they are so over rated its not funny.!!

but thats my personal opinion, but i do agree with the above blokes.. my mate had one and after having pulsars, evo's ect ect, he absolutly hated it because as he put it.... he felt like he had to rag the guts off it to get it anywhere quickly

not for me man :-/

my mate just bought the 09 plate civic and he wanted a play against me in my octy vrs i abused him lol

With what mods?

Thts his mods--------.. running 272 bhp it has forge front mount forge tip miltek large downpipe and cat miltek exh hybrid turbo cammed bigger manifold gas flowed head mapped enlarged throttle body Porsche brakes front and back 335mm cross drilled brakes 300mm cross drilled brakes on back coilovers 19 inch lens alloys loads of other bits and bobs owes me 13k lol Afta 7 year still puts a smile on my face

Dude if ya fancy a change why not..... One life and all that......

Well tbh av had a real hard think about it and I have decided I want to keep me vrs it's got far far to much good points about it that out beats the type r plus I have kids so size matters plus spent a wee but of money on it recently and would be pritty gutted after spending that money on my car to be the way I want it to then swap it an get something that I might have to even spend more money on fixing it or buying this or that so sefo keeping the vrs for a long while all I really want now it's a cai and a diverter valve and then the car will have what I want really

Their "reliability" ain't what it's cracked up to be, I can tell you.

Or perhaps I bought a lemon.

You bought a lemon as mine over 4.5 years was really reliable. Great cars but as you can see from the replies it's all down to personal taste. If I could afford one again, I'd have one in a heart beat. Was great fun to drive and I met my wife through owning it. Yes vote from me

Keep the vrs! My mate has a 05 type R. He's had several water leaks. One due to rear window seal bond leaking. And twice its failed to start for reasons he's never found out.

My mate had a type-r we stood 3hrs in a freezing auction hall to win it with no papers. Was a fantastic car, just needed front tyres and a cv boot for its MOT after we got it home.

Id prefer the vrs myself, bigger, 5 doors. If i didnt have two kids and a load of fishing gear i wouldnt say no to a type-r.

Also the civics dont win fights with renault scenic's

This was my mates in the end

that civic looks rather sore lol.yeah I really need my vrs kids pram etc does everything that I need it for a doubt a type r would get a huge pram in it lol.

Ouch that looks a bit terminal.

If I could have a car for a day, maybe a week for a good spirited drive or a track day, the type R would be great. But day to day, everyday, travelling on long journeys or going to work at the crack of dawn, the octy wins every time.
