Petrol vrs won't start

Featured Replies

 Hi all,

I have a 2010 vrs and a couple of days ago it failed to start, when the ignition was turned there was just a rapid clicking from the starter solenoid. I got it going with a bump start and when home checked it again, fired up a few times then again with the rapid clicking.

Since then I have checked the battery which seems fine, gave the starter and solenoid a good tap and tonight had it connected by jump leads to my other car just to make sure it isn't the battery. I'm out of ideas but am hopeing you guys could help before I book it in to the dealers.

 Thanks for any advise

 Richy.

Did it start off the other car with no clicking?

If so its the battery.

Sounds like battery to me too, how exactly have you tested the batt to make sure it's ok?

I put a battery tester on and got the 3 lights not the best as it doesn't give an actual voltage. The battery window is black and had the jumpleads on for a good 5 minutes but was still clicking.

May just have to bite the bullet and get a new battery and hope that's it. If not may have to be a garage.

Cheers for the replies.

justcarbatteries - £80 - Bosch 096 - 780CCA - 5 yr warranty. Fits in fine.

Batteries can show an ok voltage at idle but drop well below expected when actually cranking over

If its black in the window its usually dead

Dead Battery, treat yourself to a new one!

Thanks guys will get a new one, thought it would've lasted a bit longer than 4 years that's why I was thrown.

Popular dealer trick is to swap batteries from cars... it might be a lot older than you think
