Fabia vRS deals?

The only issue I would raise, is that financially you are paying about £2k(at best) over the odds for the new car and getting a low trade-in so as always the punter pays !! for the 0% PCP. As there is little or no room for negotiation.

I got over £3k off a New Model Octavia and %finance + free servicing.

So in my view you are not getting a cracking deal, on a phasing out model.

I'm not paying over the odds or getting a poor deal as nothing has even remotely been agreed yet. Still at the early stages of scouting out the best deal Keith. Looking at the approved used prices I don't think id be able to get near your suggestion of 9500 trade in price.

The Octavia in SWMBOs eyes is a huge unwieldy barge so no point in thinking about that.

If I get my way I'll convince her to sack the Fabia off and I'll order an M135i lol!!!!!

  • Cheers guys. Looks like should be aiming for 2.5k-3k off which is what I thought. Will push them hard and see what can be done and let you know what happens whether I take a deal or not!

  • Cheers for that. The Carlisle price looks good. I've seen all eh magazine/internet broker prices but wanted confirmation of what deals people on here had actually done. Going in to the stealer tomorro

  • Good for you , that's a crap deal on offer. Make them sweat and wait until the last day of the month!!!!

Its all good really,

But the cheap finance money that has the 0% finance vehicles is the Reason Current Accounts earn almost no interest and

you need to use the likes of Santander 1,2,3 to even get 3% on savings up to £20,000

(& buying Fuel on the card funnily is what is most likely to get you the 3% Cash back each month.)

Thats why it not only looks like Pyramid Selling with the Long Term Rental Car Set up at present, it actually is just all a Short Term situation, until the Treasury tell HMRC to sort out again and properly this time the Company Car racket.

Forgot too add that I also got over £1.5 k above any other Skoda dealer would offer in PX

Now that's a deal!!

Try harder is my advice.

The original stealership came back to me today. Reckon they don't mind ordering me a factory build but again it will be list price. Best part is they reckon it will take 24weeks for delivery and the part ex price will have to drop from 8.5k to 7k by the time the car is delivered. Errr yeah........ don't think so! There was a definite tumbleweed moment on their end of the phone when I explained that 2 other dealers had offered a discount and a guaranteed part-ex with a more reasonable 12wk wait......

It seems they have no interest in striking any kind of deal. I suspect they would rather lie in wait and sell cars at full list to the clueless little old ladies they see as "easy meat" lol!

there is often a big difference in dealers... if they don't want to sell a car, its their issue ;) I remember many years ago, i tried to buy a pergeot 106GTI as a driving school car, and they wern't having any of it, thought I was taking the ****, and tried to sell me a "quicksilver" 1.4 bag a ****e..... I went to a citroen dealer and was treated completley differntly, bought a saxo VTS, went back to the pergeot dealer in it and waved at them, then drove on by....

Yep it's been sitting there unregistered since sept. 10miles on the clock. They reckon if they can't sell it this month they will take it out of the showroom and use it as a demonstrator..... Sounds abit odd to me. Nobody wants to buy a Fabia vRS these days so I can't exactly see much of a stampede for a test drive lol!!

Someone from the dealership will just drive it around for 3-4000 miles and they'll take the hit later (and I bought mine at that point). As long as you've made clear you'll buy it at the right price and left your details, you'll probably get a call once sales deadlines come around or the boss get fed up of seeing it.

If you change often it's probably worth looking at leasing, especially if you're not set on one model in particular. The really good deals come and go according to what the manufacturers want to move, but for similar money to a new vRS on 0% PCP there's all sorts of options.

eg. Golf GTI inc Performance Pack £276pm http://www.gateway2lease.com/z_volkswagen_golf_2.0tsigti5dr+performancepack_15123_leasing.php#.Ut5RgmTFLuV

Octavia vRS TDI estate (maintained) £215pm http://www.contracthireandleasing.com/car-leasing-companies/independent-brokers/jet-vehicle-finance/skoda/octavia/22436364/

I wanted something a bit bigger than my vRS, still wanted auto & 5 doors, didn't want anything slower - and ended up with a M135i via a great deal from gateway2lease.

Yeah G2L have some awesome deals at the mo. I've recently bought a new 120d m-sport and it's great. I'm sure you'll enjoy the M135i they are epic. I was tempted to get one myself but got worried about the mpg factor and opted for the 120d in the end. If those lease deals were around back in the summer I'd have likely gone for it. Think G2L used to advertise the m135i for £260/month inc vat! PCP can't get near that. Hey ho I can likely see myself swapping into an m-lite early next year lol!

Only downsides for me re leasing are the potential hassle of selling current car private before the lease car arrives and the harsh penalties if you need/want to end the lease early for whatever reason.

I did jokingly say to SWMBO I'll get an M135i and she can have the diesel 1er to replace her vRS. She replied "that's fine but it'll be me driving the M135i not you"........ :-)

Is it me or does putting in £1,650 just to get the two year lease going on the Golf actually not seem all that tremendous a deal. :whew:

Living in fear of pranging it or the dreaded handback inspection were some nasty herbert tries to rinse you for all your remaining cash at the end of the lease.

For me leasing works for companies, don't think I'd fancy it as a private individual.

It's just under £8k (inc VAT) total to borrow a brand new Golf GTI for 2 years. If you change cars that often, it's considerably less than you'd lose buying it and p/x later.

If you were to buy one, best DTD price is £24352 assuming you used VW finance. They'd want at least £1200 deposit, and even on a 4 year PCP the payments are more.

If you habitually kerb wheels and don't bother getting minor damage seen to, then you'll get hit on your p/x. If you hand back and walk away at end of the agreed PCP term then they'll also inspect and bill you for any damage beyond fair wear and tear.

Changing cars often will never make good financial sense, this is undeniable.

The above calcs both assume that a new car is the best way to do it, I for one don't believe taking the whopping hit of depreciation as you walk off the forecourt is.

I agree about looking after your car regardless, that's what I try and do.  But you must at least believe me a little when I say that someone looking to get a car sale out of you won't punish you nearly as hard for a minor ding that their bodyshop can rectify cheaply versus a leasing company that will hit you with highest rate going for even simple scratch repair.

I don't agree with the train of thought completely but I don't want to end up arguing for the sake of it because I do understand where you are coming from.

If your priority is being in a new car I can at least see that based purely on monthly payments then a lease will most likely see you get into the best spec new car for that monthly payment.
