Miles to a tank?

Featured Replies

There are plenty of threads discussing mpg and maybe a few comments about miles per tank. So I was wondering if people could post there miles per (full)tank and as to whether Citigos like a certain brand of fuel eg does supermarket fuel fare worse than the big oil company brands etc.

Also for completeness maybe people could say a few words about the type of mileage eg urban/motorway etc.

Ps really looking forward to getting our 'go in about 2 months.

first figure is miles per tank, 2nd in litres of fuel

I typically fill up at around 400miles, sometimes the tank is quite empty other times there's still another 25 miles or so.

I tend to drive hard and it's about 70 % dual carriageway and 30% urban driving.

When I'd collected the car I had to drive it back from Manchester and varied my speeds from 55 to 79 (gps indicated), to help with the running in and over 170odd miles I averaged 58mpg, it was our 62 at one point but stopping at Catterick services seemed to knock it right back down.

Heres my stats... I fuel up when the light is on and the gauge is well in the red at this point, ive never let the trip computer get to 0 miles though.

350 miles at least using usually normal Shell or normal BP, best range I have had was 480 and I think that was using normal Esso

I've covered 341 miles in my new motor and the gauge has just got down to 1/4 tank, should easily see over 400 miles on this tankful.

Most of the mileage is on rural B roads with occasional short blasts up the A14 to Kettering. Asda or Tesco petrol. Filled to pump click off each time.

I filled mine up with BP fuel @ £1.309 per litre.

I got 450 miles out of my first tank then about 420 from the second. They are the only ones iv bothered with so far. That was BP fuel

I've covered 341 miles in my new motor and the gauge has just got down to 1/4 tank, should easily see over 400 miles on this tankful.

How come you have a digital gauge as mine has analog fuel..

I have a Citigo 'S' and they have a digital gauge.

394 miles later it's down to the last bar on the gauge. A rapid drop once under half a tank.

It certainly does drop quick after half a tank. I've noticed this too.

The question is do I fill up now or wait until no bars remain?! Not sure I can trust the gauge in these cars.

If I were you I would fill up at about the 375 mark, that way you know you have a decent margin.

On my Elegance I get a warning sound then the low fuel light comes on, have you got this warning on this model?

I'm going to fill up tomorrow and reset the odo, driving the car more enthusiastically now it's getting a few miles under it's belt :)

No warning on the S model, not even warning on the PID or it would have beeped and flashed before now. The PID on mine must lack the required sensors as it doesn't show the live mpg or distance to empty.

My PID wouldn't show certain things until I reset it and now all works :)

I am certainly hoping for 400 miles to a tank once we have a couple of thousand miles on the clock. I will report on this in due course.

Tried the reset but it still hasn't got them working.

Is it worth asking the dealer? I'd have thought all the sensors etc. would be in the car.

I would of thought that because S is only a trim Spec and the rest should all be the same. Maybe PID update is needed?

Just filled up with the second tankful and reset the odo, lets see how it does. Maybe get less as I'm using some of the higher rev range :)

There is a bong and the petrol pump sign flashes with the remaining block of the gauge.

I have the Greentech SE, only tried filling it a couple of times since I got it last june; filled it completely in November and got around 422 miles before it reached the red section on the fuel gauge. Filled it up on 2nd Jan and I'm just about to refill today after doing 438 miles so far, the needle was hovering just above the red section yesterday so I've probably got a few more miles before it reaches it.

Not sure how many miles I could do with the fuel gauge in the red? I'm guessing around 30?
