Filler Flap Not Closing?

Featured Replies

Here is my solution to the petrol filler flap remote cable popping out and leaving the filler flap open. The hardest part was getting the interior trim panel out. On the estate there are three screws along the top edge - one where the rear shelf mounts near the seat back, one at the slot where the rear shelf hooks in near the tailgate and a third behind the blank equivalent to the boot light on the other side of the car. The rest is held by spring clips but someone had been in mine before and broken a few of these replacing the two in the carpet at the tailgate edge with self tappers which made things easier.

Anyway, here's the fix - one cable tie round the cable a second round the socket it slips into and a third looped through these to anchor the cable:

I found it could be easily fixed by ensuring a tidy cable routing.

But if this works, fair play :)

It's the storage cubby on the estate - pushes it out of alignment. Plus this one seemed super loose, we've had the car a year and I can't imagine what held it in all that time.
