Boot hydraulic arm nut/bolt loose

Featured Replies

Hi

I'm not sure if a hydraulic arm is the correct description, but basically I mean the arm that assists the the boot to open - there is one on each side. Hope that's clear?

Anyway, the nut/bolt where the right hand arm connects to the main car body is loose - I need to get behind it to tighten it which means taking off the trim in the top right hand corner of the boot. I've tried to do this and it seems to be captured by other bits of trim.

Before I start disassembling my car, I thought I'd ask for some advice on the best way to access the other side of the nut/bolt so I can tighten it.

Many thanks,

Si

I can't say for certainty as I am not near car or manual but I suspect the ball ended bolt fitting you talk of is screwed into a welded nut, there's nothing to screw/tighten from behind.

Doesn't the ball end bolt have a hex base you can tighten in situ with a slim spanner?

I'm sure mine tightened from the outside, ie screwed in, as I recall. Mine is a pre-FL estate if thay makes a difference.
