Any nexus 5 + amundsen users out there?

Featured Replies

Finally in the vrs and it's really rather good - but that's for another time.

Currently have an issue with the bluetooth link with my Nexus 5 - it keeps dropping / muting the audio while playing (playing from spotify). What happens is music will be playing, then all of a sudden it will drop out - what actually seems to happen is the car mutes the audio, so if I press the volume rocker on the steering wheel down it comes straight back again - only problem is it will do it constantly!

I read somewhere on a google forum post that disabling wifi on the nexus 5 while connected to car kits fixes this issue so tried it out - and it actually did! Managed to get all the way into work today without it muting / dropping out the audio at all!

Just wondered if anyone else has this problem or if they know of a better workaround? Whilst it is an OK workaround it's a bit of a faff having to turn wifi off and on every time I get in or out of the car...

Cheers

Use Tasker to disable wifi when it detects the car connection and re-enable it when the car disconnects.

Job done! :-)

Both my HTC Desire & my Samsung galaxy S3 have this issue with both my Octavia and my previous car.  Just make sure WIFI is off and it works fine. The app mentioned above should do it.

I have this combination, and Tasker solves your issues.

On a side note, contacts imported fine and its easily the best in car system I've used in ages!

Hmmmm

So I've tried disabling wifi with mixed results - I had an entire journey when it was fine, but then the other day I had a journey with wifi dsiabled before I connected and it was playing up again.

I also have a tasker type app, but I think the key bit is wifi needs to be disabled BEFORE the bluetooth kit connects - this is a problem as the macro I had setup disabled wifi after the bluetooth kit had connected. Even then given the fact that I've experienced the issue with wifi disabled i'm not convinced.

I also tried disabling a service called MusicFX which seemed to be suggested by a number of other forum posts related to BT music streaming issues.

I've raised a case with google about this, it seems that it is likely a firmware / driver bug which was introduced in the latest firmware likely by the broadcom driver.

Just another update on this in case there are others with this issue.

It turns out this might not be a Nexus 5 problem....I'd been using spotify and became suspicious when I had similar stutter streaming over bluetooth to a speaker at home (I'd never actually experienced this before).

So I set up myself on a trial for google play music and.... it works perfectly AND i get track information on screen - it turns out that the android client for spotify is garbage.

I've switched to google music unlimited now anyway but just in case others find this...

Great news! I'm a Nexus 5 user myself and also currently switched from Spotify to Google Music. The only thin missing now is the car to use it in :)
