VRS selling options

Featured Replies

So the house move is hopefully going to come off and even if its not this time I'm pretty sure we will end up somewhere where my commute will be long enough to make the switch to diesel!

So the VRS is going to go up for sale in the next few weeks. But been thinking about how I should sell it.

Info on the car :

2006 MK1 VRS

I'm only the 2nd owner, first owner had it from new for 6 years and was a forum member

Will be on 78-79k miles come sale time

Standard VRS specs with parking sensors

FSH using variable servicing

MOT March 18th

TAX August 2014

This time last year I had the following work done with approved parts:

Cambelt and waterpump changed

Brake fluid changed

Oil and oil filter changed

Fuel filter

Pollen filter

Spark plugs

Antifreeze

New front wishbones complete with bushes replaced

New droplinks

Superpro front ARB bushes and new clamps

New rear exhaust hanger

New Philips headlights, sidelights and foglights

Silver look indicators front & rear

LED numberplate lights

Boot cargo net

Also at the same time I bought some weitec coilovers 2nd hand off of Oet/Luca off here. Before fitting I cleaned them up and bought new bumpstops for the fronts.

These were fitted along with new top mounts.

Other mods:

Alpine head unit and speakers front and rear

8x18 Genuine Audi TT BBS with Vredestein Sessanta 225/40/18 tyres which 6mm left all round.

Milotec rear diffuser

VW polo aeriel

Chrome grille surround sprayed black.

Condition:

The interior is in very good condition, no wear on the seats, the odd mark on a plastic hear and there.

Exterior wise the car is no show queen, it is used but still loved. I enjoy cleaning it and claying, polishing & waxing etc. But the front does have stone chips and there are a few other scratches here and there, there is only one little door ding on the rear drivers door other than that there are no dents.

The wheels were recurved before I bought them but its not the best job in the world but endless you really look it doesn't tell.

So a couple of questions:

Will the car sell as is for £3k+?

Do I add a new battery get an oil change and pick up pipe done and a fresh MOT and hold out for a better price?

Or try and return to standard?

Any thoughts would be great :)

Just a couple of pics for reference:

Its a nice car but I think for selling purposes potentially a mint set of standard wheels would attract more 'regular' buyers?

Yeah thought about that, wanna swap?

I've got standard suspension and radio and bumper to put back on so it would just be the wheels.

With a new battery oil and filter and pick up pipe done and in the current form plus all standard parts supplied and 13months MOT & 6 months tax.....

...is it worth £3350?

I think youd get around that you know.  Just finding the right buyer with the 'mods'

Surely easily worth that mate

I think Liverpool lad is right, worth it to the right person.

Will get it washed and waxed this week and get some pics and get it up for sale, and get it booked in for the MOT for when its needed.

Stick the standard wheels back on it and it should be worth about £3,250 + with an MOT.

Having just bought one recently myself, I looked at a lot and it seems around £3,000 to £3,500 is about right for a good condition sub 80k'er. Certainly no more, and lower than that they are mostly a bit ropey.

You may have to wait a while for the right buyer though...

Keep Firm at £3350 - It'll take some time but you should get it eventually

Put back to standard and selling the upgrades separately would bring more cash I suspect. However this takes time and effort so depends on circumstances really. Now is not the best time to sell any way most people still skint from Xmas.

Putting back to standard wouldn't be hard, except wheels. Would need to get them first before changing anything else.

If I can get it up for sale over the next couple of week I've got a couple of months at least before it actually needs to go.

Oooo mate chris has spuders and is dying for roms like that

Mate I would swap the wheels, I would refurb them for you before swapping?

Thanks mate

Fresh spiders :)

Younrequest them pink :D

Have PM'd Chris back, so that may well be an option!

How much is it worth standard then?

The same mate

As fresh furbed spiders go for asmuch as ur bbs

My blacks went for £400+

Chris got 5 spiders to

Plus can pick ur colour lol

And he was about to put fresh rubber on so u may have caught him at the best time lol

Oh yeah wheels worth the same, it will just be tyres, the vredestein are worth a chunk, but that will be the price i pay for getting an easier sale hopefully!

So wheels swapped, coilovers off standard suspension back on, audio back to standard and rear bumper back to standard.

What about grille? Need to swap for standard?

So they totally standard car, how much is that worth?

Id still hold for 3 bud surely

Its low miles its a 06

And its bloody clean

The grilles nothing, just leave thst

Chris mite have ur coilovers too if he has funds

I will have the coilies lol

Have to agree with Lloyd leave the grille, the standard part looks hideous in chrome. Should have been black or body colour from factory.

See :D

How much are coilies worth these days?

Yeah grille does look better agreed. Need a new slatted section tho as its broken by the badge. Never come up 2nd hand at the mo, so about £30 new.

So £3200 should be about right price then?

Bud go 3200 or 3300

U can always cone down

I was told my kw coilovers would be worth 250 3 at a push
