What steering wheel badge should I choose

Featured Replies

I'm getting fed up of the VW badge on my steering wheel airbag so I'm after ideas on what to cover it with. Should I just get a Skoda logo made up on vinyl or does anyone have any better ideas?

Photo here if it helps.

Alternatively if you know where I can get hold of a Skoda badged 3 spoke airbag then let me know.

Paint it red and have writing saying "dont press" around it.

you could always paint it with black board paint and carry a peice of chalk so you can keep a count of the kills you make whilst driving the car !

alternatively just go for an alternative Skoda badge, maybe darken the colours down like the new style engine cover badges...

I think MAS did some steering wheel badges although they may have been RS ones.

PM him as he may have some more generic ones.

Would it prise out for a 'Skoda' badge to be placed in there?

Failing that the badge MAS makes up would fit on there but as Adrian said thats the vRS badge...

Just had a look at it in you gallery... I am not jelous :( ;)

Too risky prising the badge out due to it being where the airbag comes out.

Fit a big nail in the middle - encourage you to drive safely.

I'm confused. Do you have an Octavia? If so, why has it got a VW badge in the first place ?

Look in his gallery, its a steering wheel off a R32

I replaced the 4 spoke plastic steering wheel with a 3 Spoke leather one but could only get hold of a VW 3 spoke airbag for a reasonable price.

Did skoda even do a 3 spoke leather wheel?

How reasonable is reasonable? I love that wheel...

Yep, in the vRS, airbag is the same as VW.

My Octavia RS had a three spoke wheel.

Have you also changed your instrument cluster for a Golf or Bora one. If so how easy was that as it must have needed reprogramming for the Immobiliser etc.

It's not that easy but I have wrote a how-to, the admin on here were supposed to be posting it up but never did. I'll convert it to PDF and stick it on the forum.

Thanks for the comments.

The photos that make it look like an Audi avant are actually of an RS6! :P

Headunit is OEM VW sat nav MFD version D. It's connected to the instrument cluster to display street names and directions between the dials as well as radio station/CD track info.

I thought about replacing my Green & Silver Skoda steering wheel badge with one of those nice black etched ones form the enginge bay of the new 05 Octy's & fabia's but again I'm concerened about prising the old one off for fear of damaging the air bag. Let me know if you have any sucess removing th VW one

I'll only be covering the existing badge, I've no intention of trying to remove it.

I think a Skoda logo in black and brushed ali could look quite good.
