  • Some rather bold statements in this thead, this one epitomises them for me.   The front brakes (where most of the braking happens) are the same as the 300PS 8V S3, 340x30mm. The Octavia and Golf sh

  • And then bring it to us for a boost to 350-370?

  • I applaud what Ben and Andrew are developing and offering. There will always be the anti people on every forum, but it's good for us owners to have the choice. Shame we keep getting the same old knock

And then bring it to us for a boost to 350-370? :)

And loose my 3 year+ financial security.

No Thank You!

But nice try.

Don't worry, I've just ordered one too Ben so we'll have our own 370bhp AWD Golf :)

There will always be people against tuning, and I appreciate your view. However there's a lot of people in favour of it too, so I suppose this thread might be more up their street than yours.

That is fine, when I get I pincer movement by the tuners, I know I've touched a sensitive  nerve!

Good luck with your projects, both.

the thing is keith, we know what kind of reaction were going to get from certain members before we post anything..

An don't worry no nerves were touched.

Just as well order a Golf GTI R and get 300 bhp with 60000 mile 3 year warranty and with 4WD.

Exactly

Andrew with respect your power upgrades are sensible and realistic. Am I against tuning? No - why would I purchase an expensive sports car, albeit pre owned fitted with a tuned engine? Difference is it is an OEM product and everything about the installation has been sorted.

Exactly

And the price of a Golf R............?

Will there be a stage 2 on the Tdi vRS Ben/Andrew? :)

Peace of mind in knowing you have a car designed for the power it has installed.

Suggest you read the article review in the Autocar or Autoexpress and see what reassurance you get for your money.

I'll save you the bother of looking it up. £29,900. But not a direct comparison due to the upgrades and 4WD. It's not an amateurish upgrade on a car that is not designed for the power.

As with most things in life, you get what you pay for.

Tim, I hadn realised I was talking to you? I know your views etc :)

We'll have to get a new moniker on the frönt and rear for all of us that fancy a cheeky 300 bhp VRS. I quite like VRS+, any Other thoughts suggestions???.

My Mk2 CR was designed for 170, and is now 200

My Mk2 CR Fabia was designed for 105. and is now 130

Any engine output modification is not 'what the car was designed for, yet you say you are not anti-modding?

Jeez this does all rather get a bit petty and pointless lads.

Some people love modding cars; some people really dont. Nothing wrong with either view they are just different making the world a much less boring place.

I'd personally rather have a car that puts out 300+ OEM hp as id still rather own an S3/Golf R/M135i type car to an Octy vRS but sadly Im not in the position to justify buying and running one. If I was not so warranty concious (or paranoid) id almost have certainly had a remap/tuning box on my current car.

I thought that after my stage 1 Octy vRS. Buy an off the shelf 4wd 300+bhp car, then I'll be happy.

Trouble is I knew it had more in it. 3 months in and I had it tuned to 411bhp :)

Now it feels much better.

Thats a fair point....most 300+hp cars having late 300/early 400hp mapping potential, again completely different league. S4 V6 T (supercharged) isnt it?

That's the one, zero lag, & sooooooo tuneable. 500hp off a stage 2 is easily achievable.

Stage 1 tuned is awesome though :)

Have to say though, some impressive figures for the Octy vRS.

Having had a stage 1 vRS, traction could be an issue. You just have to be a bit more aware & progressive.

Bargain performance for the money :)

Just wish the haters would do one & leave those interested alone to make their own choices.

Tim, before using words like "amateurish" against people that quite clearly are not please take a moment to consider what your statements will make others think of you.

Its quite obvious, that both DTUK & Shark are professional outfits that enhance many peoples enjoyment of their cars, whether those car owners upgrade the brakes and suspension of their cars is a matter for them and possible their insurance companies if it all goes Pete Tong.

Oppenheimer built a bomb but he didn't drop it, Ben & Andrew tune cars but they don't drive them so, why are you treating them & their future earnings like this ?

Regards

T

Agreed!

VRS+ to indicate more power!

Or:

How about VRS- to indicate VRS minus warranty and probably insurance?

You pays your money...

Some of you guys really need to get together for a game of ping pong.
