  • Some rather bold statements in this thead, this one epitomises them for me.   The front brakes (where most of the braking happens) are the same as the 300PS 8V S3, 340x30mm. The Octavia and Golf sh

  • And then bring it to us for a boost to 350-370?

  • I applaud what Ben and Andrew are developing and offering. There will always be the anti people on every forum, but it's good for us owners to have the choice. Shame we keep getting the same old knock

I suspect there's a reason why VW put 4 wheel drive on the golf with this sort of power....

Exactly the reason I went from my last vRS with 254bhp.

It was a great car, but just scrabbled to get the power down from a standing start.

I bought an S4 with AWD and the difference was awesome, so much so my next car was another AWD, a Golf R.

I don't think I will buy another 2wd performance car :)

I did the reverse and went from an s4 to the mk3 Octavia rs. I miss my AWD, but only at launch really. Once you get over 50km/h the power gets to the road fine on the FWD.

I would, however be all over an AWD Octavia rs, if it eventuates...

I get some tyre skid even on 150PS if I dont modulate the trottle. I can only imagine what happens with 220PS on VRS.

Remember a lot of vag cars run higher hp than quoted, mine was 241 stock

So what are you running on yours at the moment Parsey? From memory you had a DTUK box and then switched to a remap? How have you found the car handles with the extra performance?

How can cupra handle 280PS? Isnt this the same engine as well?

The Cupra has an improved diff to help restrict spinning of a single wheel. Also, although the Cupra has 60PS more, peak torque and gearing are very similar so rotational forces given to the front wheels are pretty equal between both cars. The Cupra just holds peak torque for longer within the rev-range, producing high PS at high revs.

Cupra 280 is a different engine to the VRS, it's the same as S3 and Golf R

Still, not sure even 300hp would be enough for mid life crisis :D

I think you need a professional woman to help you with THAT size MLC

I don't normally post anymore on a tuning thread because of the constant arguments but regarding trying to fool/fraud the dealer after a power increase made me think of my Mk4 Golf.

It was whistling excessively when i was accelerating normally. I thought it was the turbo and took it to Peter Cooper in pompey. They couldn't find a fault and gave it back to me. Whilst paying the bill, the guy on the desk asked if it had been chipped because the technician found it more powerful during the test drive. It has 130 bhp at the wheels. He obviously didn't know that until he drove it. Did the Superchips 'chip' show up? Maybe not, I'll never know.

Anyway, it turned out to be hole in the flexible exhaust joint found during an MOT.
