Is The Electric Boot Opener still an option?

Featured Replies

I am just about to order my Supurb and was told by the dealer the electric boot opener is no longer available on the estate, does anyone know if this is true as it's a really handy option for me and I would really like it if its possible.

It is a £535 option on the ELegance model, maybe standard on the L&K. Not standard on the L&K either.

Hi, not sure about UK specific options but I have got it on my 2014 Estate ... Came as a part of the Drivers Edition package we have here in Sweden.

Have a nice day!

It was on the option list when ordering 2014 model.

I had an Elegance FL on test for a week and it had the electric boot open/close option fitted, very nice it was too. Unfortunately I couldn't justify the price so my new car doesn't have it, the money went on metallic paint instead.

Out of all the toys my Elegance has, I'd rate the electric boot open/close VERY highly. So handy when walking up to the car with your hands full!

I see people say things like "So handy when walking up to the car with your hands full", BUT you still need a free hand to press the button unlike the system on say the Ford Kuga with Keyless Entry where you walk up to the boot and make a kicking motion to open the boot. I had the electric boot on my Insignia and it was a nice feature at first but it also became a bit tedious when it used to take 3 attempts to close because there was an obstruction, in the 3 years I had the car I also found the boot open in a morning on at least 16 occasions and on most those there would have been over a Grands worth of fishing tackle in there (luckily none of it was nicked as I wouldn't have had a leg to stand on with the Insurance Company), on two occasions the boot ended up full of snow. I ended up turning the feature off and only turning it on when I needed it. It took quite a long press on the remote to open the boot and I've never figured out how it managed to open on it's own but I would find it hard to trust another system now, hence why I didn't have it again on my Superb.

We do our shopping using large plastic crates. Keyfob and crate handle in 1 hand, other handle in the other one. Works a treat.
