No Oil Temperature

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've noticed there is no Oil Temperature being displayed on my vRS Diesel in the maxidot display. It's enabled in the settings menu but all I have is 3 dashes where the digits should be.

Any ideas ?

Regards

Mark

Temp doesn't show until it passes 50(I think) so need to make sure you are driving long enough for this to happen.

If you want to know what your oil temp is (which to me is quite important) you can get a cheap Elm327 OBD Bluetooth dongle and download the free torque app which is so useful I purchased the full version on android phone/tablets. I think someone does a replacement Maxi Dot displays all the OBD information if you want more info but its not cheap.

He didn't ask that.

He want to know why its not displayed

Could it be because the car is on fixed servicing?

I asked the garage why it was not displayed on our Fabia vRS...That was what they said....Still doesn't make sense though

How do you get it displayed on maxi dot in the settings?

VCDS or Dealer as far as I know

Ahh right thanks Chris

Pretty sure this is not available on the pre FL Octy though.

Could be right Adam, who fancies finding out?

I will try again with vcds when I've next got my laptop handy but I'm sure I looked in the module for instruments previously and couldnt see it as an option.

It was just a suggestion, it does address the OP's question if you read my post. It may be an alternative solution with more functionality but it think it addresses the issue. I do hope this isn't residual prejudice carried over from a previous thread? If not then sorry for mentioning it but it does sound a bit blunt and petty as if you were putting me in check.

Anyway to elaborate further below is a link to the Maxidot replacement its an approved Briskoda link by one of the site sponsors to which I have no affiliation. This will give you all the info you will ever need. Torque pro does a similar thing just have to find a handy place to position your device.

Ps. one of mine is a Pre FL model and I can confirm it doesn't show oil temp even with Vcds and fixed servicing I think you need the bright white lcd for it to work although for a 2010 model it should work on fixed servicing IIRC.

Not putting you in check...LOL...just directing you to the question put

Same year and model of mine...Good link for those having a pre FL model. Thanks

I've gone for one for the boxes that only converts the bluetooth FL maxidot signal into something that is compatible with the pre FL maxidot.  It is pretty good, and so I imagine the full polar box is too, although there are a couple of annoying niggles, the main one being that TELEPHONE appears in capitals, not lower case like the other items, and also that texts do not dsiplay on the cluster (although if you have the right BT module, they can be read out).

And I checked earlier and I can back up Scribbler on the oil temperature on the pre FL maxidot, definitely not an option.

So does this mean it's because it's on fixed and not variable servicing ? This car gets driven plenty as it's a taxi. It's a 12 plate so NOT a Pre Facelift model. I bought this car 2nd hand with 7k on clock from main dealer and he did say it hadn't had a long life service but the fixed service which I believe is a different oil. My previous taxi was a 60 plate vRS which I had from new and was set up for variable and that DID display the oil temp so maybe this is why then.

No...Its the same oil irrespective to what service you are on...DPF filter requires Long Life Oil
