Skoda Yeti 2.0.TDI SE

Featured Replies

Hi all

I have a Skoda Yeti 2.0 TDI SE which is a lease car. It is less than 12 months old with 13,000 on the clock. From new I noticed a  rotating tick over noise which I thought was just the noise a Skoda diesel engine made. I took the car to the Skoda dealer in Bournemouth for a heated wing mirror fault, but informed them that I was concerned about the tick over noise which seems to be getting louder. Instant diagnosis, it's your bad driving, it's the DMF that needs replacing you will have to pay for it, or we will charge the lease company, who will then charge you. This is just the start, I am waiting to see what they come up with when they have carried out a full examination. Has anyone else had the same problem?

It's possible if you are the sort of driver who plonks it into top gear and leaves it there until it starts to shake. :hi:

But that sounds like total **** to me. I've had mine coming up to three years and it's just about to turn 16000miles with no problems.

If they don't change their view a conversation with SUK seems to be called for.

It certainly sounds very Off-Note to me!

1/ What do you mean by "rotating tick over noise"?

2/ What type of journeys are you undertaking?

3/ Which bhp engine?

76k plus miles and I've never noticed a problem.

Hi. Thanks for interest and comments. No I don't drive around in top gear and of all the cars I have ever owned I have never had a clutch or DMF replaced yet, some with 100,000 plus on the clock. No shaking at the moment. Cheers.

Hi. Thanks for interest.

1. Rotating whirring noise, only after it's warmed up, can't hear it when driving only at low speeds.

2. Cross section short/long journeys. Town use.

3. 110.

Cheers.

Interesting. Can't answer though.

The dealer is correct in that a clutch and flywheel is unlikely to be covered by warranty, unless you can prove there was a manufacturing fault.

I would try another dealer for a second opinion. Especially as they're guessing at this stage, seeing as they haven't done any proper troubleshooting or diagnostics for you!

Could it be originating from your heater fan?

When our SE+ was a few months old, it developed an annoying tick when the engine was either idling or at low revs.  We finally got it down to the fan in the heater - switch off the air conditioning and it went away.

Over time the noise has died down and as the car will be due a service soon,  I've added this to the list of "things to look at" - but to be honest, it seems to have gone away on its own.
