Service Book option codes: Can they be trusted?

Featured Replies

Do you all think that option codes for my car must be correct?

I've got   1AP = Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with electromechanical brake booster

I haven't got ESP button I have only ASR instead. So, do I have ESC/ESP or not? I've driven this car for about 15k kms and I haven't had any situation that should require ESP.

The car is Fabia 1.9 TDi Estate 2004 Elegance

Under the carpet in the boot, you'll find a large sticker with three digit codes. These are the codes that explain what your car is fitted with.

ASR is otherwise known as 'Traction Control'

There is a pinned topic in the MkI Fabia forum about option codes. In it there is a link to an external website where you can decode the options.

If you have the owners manual, there will be a duplicate of the sticker inside the front cover.

Saw it, did it, checked it, and that is why I'm here. I didn't want to ask about correctness of the service book/owners manual there, since it's a topic about build codes. My question is: How can it be that I have only ASR button on the dash while my owners manual, service plan book, boot sticker all say that I have 1AP = Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with electromechanical brake booster?

you car also has the code G04 (front shocks) but there isn't a light on the dash for it. I told you I thought, there is no light/ on/ off button for ESC. ASR (traction contol) concerns the front drive wheels. ESC works via all four brakes independently.

If you have ESP Lee it replaces the ASR button with an esp button.

But is ESP and ESC the same thing - or different? I just want to understand how much my car will protect me from my own stupidity. Seems difficult to get the true 1AP spec.
