Whistle for the right side of the engine for 5 secs when hits a puddle

Featured Replies

Hi,

Dont know if any one has encountered this noise. Since its raining heavily these days and we get a lot of water puddles around. Every time my car hits a deep puddle of water (specially front driver end) it makes a loud whistle noise. It only stays there for 5 secs or so. I dont know if i am making it clear. The noise is like if you throw water towards a running or moving part like a fan or something. I dont think there is anything wrong with it as it only comes when there is a lot of water and goes within 5 secs.

Please share if anybody has ever experienced or heard about it.

Thanks

Saurabh

I would think that's just water hitting the drive belt and causing it to squeal briefly. I wouldn't worry about it.

Probably right fella

Not the same whistle that some members have encountered in the past

Thanks fellas. That makes sense...

Problem with the Citigo is that it has no undertray like others have. Another it should have too. I read on the UP forum that they have them.

Mine sometimes makes a whistling/chirping noise at low engine revs when I have just driven through a deep puddle. I guess it's the drive belt getting wet and slipping slightly. It clears after a few seconds.

Can't say I have heard any sounds when going through floods/puddles and they were deep as in over the front splitter lol maybe I just didn't listen closely enough :-)

I haven't had any of this yet even though been through some deep puddles.

Do you have any more details about the Up! undertray or a link?

Sadly not because an owner was saying how they had an accident and this is one of the parts that got ripped off.

I've scanned through an online copy of ETKA and there is no section for under body protection on the up!

I agree with you as both the cars are practically identical and its hard to believe that there is such design protection on up..

I couldn't find anything either but I did find some door protection strips that I'll be looking at soon.

I don't have a under tray on my up.

I've usually removed them from past cars :D

Hmm strange. I don't know what that guy was meaning then.

I wonder if the cross UP has them?

I've never removed them but did think about getting them colour coded on my Octavia.

Might pop in to my local VW dealer and take a look at an Up! with them on (think they are on the 'black' and the 'white' Up!) and see how they look.

The smooth look is better I think.

Are we still talking about cars?

I like a nice stripe myself...

Hence why I went for the Sport :D

My Citigo makes many noises, which i have been deeply worried about, in the past.

Now i just turn on the stereo and feel better :)

I agree. My Citigo has a varied repertoire of noises, which I do my best to ignore. I can't help feeling that these cars would benefit from a bit more sound deadening.
