alcantara cleaning and possibly replacement

Featured Replies

Hi does any 1 have any idea how you go about cleaning the seats in the MK2 vrs specifically the white/cream alcantara

Also had a few quotes on having it replaced with matching leather either standard or perforated for about £450. anybody done this as I'm only thinking of replacing the bottom part.

cheers

Autoglym interior shampoo and a cloth, should come up as good as new.

I have used a dedicated alcantara cleaner in the past and that worked fine, the important thing with alcantara in my opinion is using a fabric protector on it afterwards, helps keep it cleaner and easier to clean in the future.

Holy moley, wanted my redone in black perforated alcantara, but I'll give it a scrub I think.

Try a local detailing place.

Or get a good steam cleaner and then cover the end with a micro fibre. Use to draw out the dirt.

You do need to be careful steam cleaning due to the side airbags.

100% correct!

What is the steam going to do to the airbags?

Steam might make the airbag explosive charge wet, so it won't explode? No risk then.

Anyway from Alcantara: Don’t rub too vigorously, and we don’t recommend using steam machines

Any ideas how a leather cleaner would work on alcantara parts? Dedicated products are not easy to find where I live.

I think leather cleaner is a creamy sort of cleaner, while alcantara is synthetic stuff, I would be carefull.

I wouldn't use it, you need a fabric cleaner or buy online.
