  • Sounds very MAF to me dude!! Might be worth putting one on it I no they are expensive but it might make the world of difference and better running etc? But make sure it's a genuine VAG one! Cheap on

GSF are £120 for a Bosch one with a refund of £40 IIRC.

eBay your looking at £80+

I might have missed something, but this sounds like a 17705 error to me.

If you drive the car and it has the flat feeling, pull over and key off and on again. Does all the power magically come back?

Do you have a boost gauge? Might be worth plumbing one in temporarily to diagnose the issue. The 17705 error code limits boost to 5psi, so gives you a strange flat feeling on some days. But on other days the car will be fine and boosts normally. It wont throw a light, it'll just log the code. So can you do a code scan?

Replacing the N75 is a classic! People always seem to jump at the chance to waste money on buying a new N75, when the reality is that they rarely fail. Anyway, at least you have a nice new shiny one now!

The n75 was off a breaker mate.. which was apparently running fine. Was worth a shot lol

I haven't tried turning of and on then seing what she's like.. I will try this

I cleaned the maf again last night and just drove a few miles now eml on!! It's ****in me off now to be honest

What recirc valve have you got on? It might be sticking- I'm actually in the same boat as you- like the clappers one minute then next pull it's flat but zero faults. I'm just about to go and pop the coil packs and check for some obvious things myself. Got a new recirc ordered regardless and I'll check to see if that sorts it- just damned annoying not getting any codes- at least that'd be a start!

exactly mate, last time it was plugged into vcds there were no codes except second lambda which since the map the eml hasnt come back on..

until thismorning which i suspect is dead maf as i cleaned it again last night and eml again grrrr

recirc is 36 quid,, only a few week old.! i fitted yellow spring after the map, might try fitting ,middle rated spring and see what happens as the yellow spring may be a bit to stiff?? maybey??...

mods - 3' downpipe and decat, remap, n249 bypassed, and the recirc.....have front mount mounted on the car but waiting to book into longlife to have hardpipes made up...

yellow spring to stiff boys?

Maf goosed buy a new genuine one

 this car is breakin me finacially

new maf are expensive

It's weird in that it's doing the same with MAF unplugged and in exactly the same way which is making me think it isn't your MAF and at 125 for a new Bosch one you need to make damned sure it's the MAF! lol. There's a few ways of testing a MAF- an old one is to just tap it when it's idling and see if the engines stutters a wee bit. When I say tap I literally mean just tap it hard with your finger. You can also get voltmeter probes in the harness and check voltages and make sure they're within tolerances and not jumping all over the shop.

OR buy a cheap 20 quid one- see if it solves the problem, if it does then save the pennies for a Bosch one lol

How about just getting Vcds plugged in and checking maf values will show I its faulty !!

Logging is the best way to fix faults ;-)

I'd have presumed that if zero codes are showing then there's no major fluctuation in the MAF sensor output. Always worth logging but in my case my laptop is in sunny Glasgow with my better half as her rabbit destroyed hers (going in the pot) and I can't be chewed setting up a new virtual machine on my tablet at the minute. I@d imagine setting boost calculation to MAF in torque pro would show some pretty serious jumps about if it's the MAF- might test that

What does the car sit at on idle? Does it run worse once its hot?

I had exactly the same happen to me. put my foot down till i got to third gear then it would go all sluggish, I got told to clean the EGR Valve. So i cleaned it, and i can honestly say that the problem didn't happen again... Hope this helps a little

In my case it idles lovely, start a at 1200 give or take cold, comes down to 750 or 800ish after a minute and steady as a rock. Doesn't mis fire, doesn't miss a beat- same once warmed up. Never any mis fires just the hit and miss power. Accelerate off and it's great, slow down for lights and then accelerate again and flat. It's quite peculiar.

No EGR on the 1.8t just the Secondary Air Injection but I'm not sure that'd cause an issue like this- I'm removing it when I have another free morning anyway so that's something else

Mine is ****i n me off.. one min goes like stabbed rat the next hold a back and makes the right sort of noises but doesn't go like it should...

Can't be coil packs (these are a week or so old)

Can't be coolant sensor (2-3 weeks old)

Can't be plugs (4 day old platinums)

Can't be fuel filter (week old)

Fuel pump (4days old 4 bar lcr)

And the list goes on........ :-o

Gunna meet Dave and run some logs but I'm certain my maf is buggered!!

It's an annoying one like

Is your recirc a forge one? if so you should have green spring in

Actually not sure now after reading....

No mines not a forge one

Came with red spring for low boost setups. Blue for standard and yellow for modded/mapped...

I have the yellow fitted

The one thing we've both got in common is the n249 bypass so it might be a vac leak somewhere

Just do some logging guessing won't help

NIce helpful bit of advice mate- really helpful

It is helpful

You cannot guess problems people and now customers of mind end up spending hundreds replacing parts to cure a problem when a logging session would have saved them money and the fault was fixed in minutes !!!!

Why complicate things when you don't need to

See it so many time and so many threads on here listen to people that have been there 1000's of times we are normally right ;-)

RUnning some tests right now, so far there's 1 test error in torque with the lean to rich switch tid$05 . Need to keep going through stuff

I'm not guessing.. all the parts I've changed were goosed anyway but seeing as they are brand new these can't be the issue... all replaced with genuine parts

I haven't changed the maf yet mind and it all points there in my case
