Skoda Favorit 1994 GLXIE coilovers suspension

Featured Replies

Yesterday I bought a Skoda Favoit from 1994, which is actually older than me! good thing is, it's cheap on insurance! was thinking about lowering it but not too low that it touches the ground, just so it doesn't feel as high maybe by 40mm. Coilovers sounds the best way to go. I did read on a thread that the favorit has the same suspension as the Felicia? And then someone said they were using mk1 focus and mk3 golf coilovers on their Felicia, would this work for my favorit? I'm 18 so I don't have the biggest wallet so something reasonably cheap would be best. thanks!

I think that the mk1 focus fronts will fit but im not sure if they would lower it much as the favorit fronts are shorter than felicia fronts.

The mk2/3 golf rear coilovers should fit but again im not sure if they would lower it much. Mk1 golf rears or polo 6n rears will fit aswell and these are alot shorter than the golf ones so may be better suited.

If it's just 40mm you are after I would just get some lowering springs..

I recently lowered my favorit 40 mm using a set of lowering springs bought from ebay they worked great and the car is now very stable! but at the cost that it is a little rough  and not as gentle as before but not too uncomfortable.

also very easy to install just remove old spring and place new one

Thanks for your replies, did think about lowering springs but thought i might as well replace the whole lot whilst I'm at it, and If I wanted to drop it lower then I'd need coilovers, warbuli have you got a picture of what it looks like lowered by 40mm? Cheers

Is it this car?

It might not look like much but it definitely looks way better.

The only problem that i seem to remember having is that the rear tyres used to rub with the wheel arch lip but i rolled them and the problem stopped

Skodanormal yes that's the exact car I have!

Warbuli that looks smart might just go for the lowering springs then it's a cheaper alternative!

I thought so. The previous owner was a member of the Skoda Owners Club.

Nice first car. I loved my Felicia - I miss it to this day. No abs and wet tyres in the wet and the snow can be fun, but be aware you have to stop the car ;)

If you're after lows I'd just stick with springs as no off the shelf coilies are easily found for these, or you could get some made pretty cheaply.

This company quoted me £200 to drop my Iggy by 50mm - I'd not go much lower than that on unmodified shocks, but they can probably be done pretty easily (Depending on the type of shock).

Thanks well the only thing that might bother you a little, is the fact that in the front it doesn't look lowered when compared to the rear of the car because the wheel arch is higher in the front then in the rear. you can clearly see it in the pic i posted.

Do NOT use this company to make anything for you.

My favorit suspension, custom made, was completely botched. Out several hundred pounds for suspension that does not do anything that I asked of them, and extremely hard to contact once they had my money. Absolutely avoid at all costs, one of the worst experiences I have ever had in the car world, and I'm in the trade...

when i checked my fun99  i found that it had fiesta  mk4 front legs and springs (the yellow paint on them gave that away the sort of thing you find in a scrappy  )   chopped springs on the rear with  check straps fitted on the rear to stop the springs falling out for mot . it sits very low  on standard wheels
