MOT Passed, Advisories.....Smoke test results.

Featured Replies

Ok so my VRS went in on Saturday for its MOT.

and it passed with two advisories, first one was front discs scored and pitted but I knew they would need changing eventually.

second one is my problem, "play in steering rack inner joints" ok so whats the score with this one? new rack?

And just one for those of you that may be interested, the smoke test was 0.93 and the limit is 1.50.

car is a 2007 octavia vrs estate with 123,000 miles, stage one Shark map, DPF and EGR removed.

New "DPF" legislation discussed with the tester, he said "Don't worry about it"

So does this mean that people can stop worrying about their missing DPF or is this just a case where the tester did not care enough to check if it was still in place. Will others be less lucky

From what I've read, DPF removal is illegal regardless of what an mot test says. But then so is removing a cat...as long as it looks like it's in place and all emissions pass, I don't see the problem. Not that emissions mean anything, the earth will kill us through its natural cycle anyway!
