Never to old to learn part 12

Featured Replies

Well, yesterday I went to pick a mate up.  I parked and did not get out and waited.  So when he approached I had to press the little button under the handbrake to unlock the doors for him.  I pressed it a tiny bit too long and low and behold all the windows started to drop just like as if I was pressing the unlock button for longer than two seconds on the keyfob!  So I guess it will raise them all as well - I didn't play any further with this as we had to be somewhere...

Yes, I never knew this.

Nice to know, I also had no idea.

Thanks

Useful info!

I've said this before but it bears repeating. I'm convinced that modern cars only tolerate us as drivers because they are much more intelligent than us. Many times I've been sure that the bl***y car is laughing at me.

Hi,

Lights warning on Elegance? When I switch the ignition on in the dark only the dial needles light. Switch on the lights and all the dial lights come on. Can't see anything in the manual. During the day - dials light as normal. I thought that this was a fault at first but now think it is a lights off warning.

Any views?

I think you'll find this is normal behaviour. I just let the car do the thinking as it's far more clevereverer than me

I assume you've found the press and hold function of the middle button on the key fob?

Good spot, I then tried getting them to raise but it did not seem to work

It's like that to remind you to put your lights on, just leave switch in auto position, problem solved

It isn't just on the Elegance or on those with "lazy" lights. :giggle: :giggle:

It is on all Yeti's.

I tried it and doesn't seem to do anything apart from unlock the boot?

It seems to release the catch (or it does on our Yeti) - makes it a lot easier to open the tailgate with an armful of stuff.

Thanks Jock-I think you are right-but Haven't found it much of a problem but will give it a go on the next "supermarket sweep"

It does BUT remember DO NOT put your keys in the boot with your shopping and then close the boot :heartbreak::doh::sick:

No one would do that; or their head would echo with an Eric Morecambe phrase "This boy's a fool!"

I've set mine so that all doors and boot open and lock simultaneously. I hated having to remember to unlock the boot separately.

I'm not sure if my lights are unusually sensitive but I find in the "Auto" position they come on far too early so I've revered to "Off" and relying on the fading dash lights if I forget to switch them on.

does anyone know if the sensitivity of the Auto function is adjustable?

Not a lot of car-jacking and handbag-snatching on Skye, though

Very true

This reply does not compute...  Error 404...  How can lights (that make you safe and visible to others) EVER come on too early?!?!

Agree.

It is one's eyes that adapt to the failing light. The car is like Attila; it doesn't give a damn...

There are some settings that are adjustable with VCDS diagnostics. I would have to connect to a Yeti to confirm though.

With the light sensor in the Octavia, I've found that cleaning around the sensor with some IPA, thoroughly cleaning the screen, using glass polish if necessary, and then sealing the screen with a hydrophobic product such as Aquapel made a massive difference to the efficiency of operation of the sensor, particularly in regard to how well the auto wipers worked (it's a dual sensor fitted, for rain and light sensing).

Definitely normal!

When I asked this question shortly after getting my Yeti it finished up with me getting chastised for not turning my headlights on until it was too dark for me to see.
