And for our younger readers, what was the best 90s hot hatch?

I'm old enough to have owned a VW Golf GTI 16v when they were new! An absolutely awesome car in standard form. There were others that were faster (Renault 5 GT Turbo) and some might have handled better (Peugout 205 GTI) but none were as complete a car as the Golf.

At last, someone with some sense! :D

I love my Mk3 16v! Prefer the sound of the VR6, but performance wise there isn't much in it. Unless it's my friends 502bhp VR6T.....

I've not owned any other "hot" hatches, but if I had a big enough garage, and oversized wallet, I would have to have the Mk1, 2, 3 Golf GTis, 306 GTi, 106 GTi, and an Escort and Sierra Cosworth. Maybe chuck a Delta and CRX in there too....and an R32 Golf Mk4, just to say I have one...
