heavy smoke on start up

Featured Replies

every morning I start my car it smokes like hell when cold it does not lose oil or have a boost leak any ideas guys?

When cold, the engine runs "rich", therefore not running efficiently - as it attempts to get to optimum operating temperature. Other factors contribute to the heavy smoke; such as MAF data, boost leaks, injector health and fuel filter health.

And that, boys and girls, is why you should have a good drive before your MOT to ensure that the car is running at optimum temperature, ergo as little smoke as possible (hopefully).

Too much smoke could indicate a failing camshaft

Not uncommon if your car has over 100k
