Octavia VRS mk 1 MPG

Featured Replies

Hi there.

a few days ago I did an oil change, with forte flush and used quantum oil.

new oil filter and spark plugs

I've found my average mpg is about 30, butt on a twenty mile mostly motorway journey, driving sensibly, occasionally booting it I managed 41 mpg , which I was quite impressed with.

just goes to show these 1.8s are decent engines! my old fiesta 1.2 averaged about 35!

what are your mk 1 mpgs like?

Is that genuine mpg using a method like brim-to-brim or according to the computer?

I managed a genuine 34mpg on the way back from picking up my car, which I was mighy impressed with considering the way I drove it 230-odd miles home. Short journeys are an absolute killer though.

it's not genuine!, it's off the trip computer.

i've heard the trip computer over reads by up to ten percent so I think it's still pretty good.

I just wonder if the spark plugs or flush actually helped.

yeah, short journeys are expensive!

have you had yours long?

To Bangor and back I managed over 40 driving like a granny with some spiritied bursts.

My work is only 6 miles away, with mixed b road and town driving (like a granny) 22-23 mpg genuine  :o

Sig shows my brim to brim from fuelly - about 30 average. I can get 40+ on a decent run but my stop start commute kills it.

i get around 35 mpg and on motorways about 43
