Mystery moisture.

Featured Replies

I have a fabia vrs the rear passenger side has a slight dampness to the carpet! Door carrier i hear you cry but no the seal is completely dry but on the rear drivers side there was water in the seal but the carpet is bone dry. Any ideas folks other than strip the whole interior and carpet out, has anyone experienced this? It isnt flooded by any means but its got to be getting in somewhere can it track in from the boot as the car when parked on the drive slopes forwards toward the passenger side.

Did you check the front sound proofing on the passengers side?

Not the carpet, you need to get under it to find out of the water is coming from the front.  You might have a leak at the airbox inlet.

I knwo you say the seals are dry but i would invest in some sealant and hour of your time to make sure

I quickly hasten to add get some door cards clips, co's all mine snapped/ broke on card removal.

I think I recall there are 7 plastic clips per rear door.

Is the actual black rubber door seal squashed in anyway to allow water to come in between door frame and rubber door seal?

Other than the door carrier seal, the other "usual suspect" is the rear screen washer pipe. It runs up under the plastic cover inside the car, by the nearside rear door.

This post and the topic and ones it links to may be helpful.

i get water collecting in the corner of the rubber seal rear offside and which i have cured by putting a piece of material pushed into the thin gap just to take the water away, its all on the way i park my car too, hill or flat, mostly hill though.

got a funny feeling its the rear washer connection at the rear passenger side after reading posts on possible leaks, there is a significant delay to my rear washer although it does work, going check it tomorrow. I believe its only 2 clips?

SORTED!!!!! If you have already done the door carrier and damp appears in the rear passenger footwell check the rear wiper connection thats under the trim. Mine had popped apart and everytime i used my rear washer it must have been running back to collect in the foot well. I must add that my washer always worked ok but had a slight delay so i never suspected it could be that.
