Been waiting for this kit for so long !

Featured Replies

Took a trip to darkside last year enquiring about turbo's and clutches, they said in a few months they would have finished testing their own clutches, and they're finally here ! Just as my clutch is about to give up as well ! Had my mind set on the helix setup but think I'll be taking this route instead now !

  • No disrespect but I've heard too many bad reviews about CG it's put me off them. It's only £10 for delivery mate, going to try this one out I think

  • A lot cheaper than the Sachs SRE clutch I got from them, but then I am not sure what the SRE clutch is rated to.   One thing I can confirm, is it is NOT oem feel, but it's a bloody good clutch!  If

Too expensive CG do a cheaper kit

Helix is only £30 dearer mate.

Darkside is 870 with VAT probably charge more for delivery aswell!

Surely there must be clutches from road cars that will handle in excess of 400lb/ft? I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm just disappointed that if I want a Fabia vRS with the same torque as a Mercedes C250 CDi manual, I can't have the same clutch feel. It has to be possible!

I'm in the same situation. Darkside told me about this new clutch months ago, but my current stock clutch just keeps on going!

Thats the total on the cheapest option.

For the sake of a few £ Helix is proven to work but then I may be biased having a helix fitted lol.

Snap I'm biased too lol. I'd go for the Helix tbh. Your money's your choice though bud.

Bit OTT for what you have at the moment as the standard clutch and DMF can easily handle it, or are you still planning to go down the hybrid route?

a standard clutch can handle around 330-340 FtLb's of torque? I don't think so mate their on there limits at 300, lol. Planning more power this year that's why I'm upgrading.

What's the best price you can get a helix for ? I've only found them at Mardigras Motorsport too?

You need to ring mardigras to get the "best" price mate. Seems to vary a little depending on who you speak too but they happily price matched, I think I mentioned awsome gti. They havent got it listed on their website but have access to them :)

Thought you were running a PD150?

I spoke to a lady at Mardi Gras Mororsport over the phone no price drop or match for me, luck of the draw I guess.

I bought my Helix SMF setup from Ali at Unit 18.

yeh I am and that's what kind of torque they run when their mapped :S lol

Tom if you want a decent price on a helix PM me, Mardi gras wanted £970 from me I got mine for £900 I'm not sure I could get it matched but I can put you in touch with someone who will give you a better price than that :)

I ran my fabia with a pd150 hybrid at 320 lb/ft for over a year on the stock clutch and when it was removed there was still alot of life left in it. Only reason I removed it was because I had the money and also wanted a LSD fitted. To be fair it hadn't had too hard a life. I'm not one for giving it death low down in the rev range or lots of hard starts.

I get discount at mardigras as i have bought a few clutches in the past :)

That darkside kit is just a darkside flywheel. The rest of it is sachs sre kit?

I'd go helix because it looks sexy

why put a PD150 on if you're not going to give it death low down? Might as well have stuck to the 130. My clutch has been slipping since the day I first got the 130 turbo remapped and the dyno shows that it's a very good map and it's just the clutch can't handle even the smoothest torque curve. In my eyes why have you put a PD150 turbo on if you're not going to drive it like your supposed to? May as well have stuck with the 130 turbo. I'm planning lots of track days and a trip to the ring this year this is why I'm upgrading, if you want to put a bigger turbo on your car and drive it like a ****y still fine by me, I drive my car like it's meant to be driven, so thanks for your pointless input.

it may just be a darkside flywheel jase but it's still a LOT cheaper than the Sachs race kit, you agree? ... And like you have said many times before, the only way to get the best out of a mapped PD130 is for an upgraded clutch, so why are these people arguing with me when I have a bigger turbo? :S lol

Lol I don't see why you would upgrade your turbo etc etc then ave to worry about how you drive it because of the clutch! I agree with you Tom :)

I love mine because I don't have to worry about it ****ting itself!

Just have to worry about the gearbox now

I popped the main shaft straight out the end of the box

Hold on

Hold on a minute I never said that I drive like miss daisy, just that I treated my clutch with a little bit of respect before I uprated it (when I knew this was a weak point). You are saying that a the clutch can't even handle the smoothest of torque curves when I bet there are hundreds off remapped cars out there that don't have clutch slip. Anyway it didn't make sense to put a pd130 on it again when I blew the last one up. Hence the reason I put the hybrid 150 on it.
