Hold on

Hold on a minute I never said that I drive like miss daisy, just that I treated my clutch with a little bit of respect before I uprated it (when I knew this was a weak point). You are saying that a the clutch can't even handle the smoothest of torque curves when I bet there are hundreds off remapped cars out there that don't have clutch slip. Anyway it didn't make sense to put a pd130 on it again when I blew the last one up. Hence the reason I put the hybrid 150 on it.

yeh and them cars won't have clutch slip because they won't be driven properly which is precisely my point lol. A standard clutch cant handle a remapped PD150 especially when mine is 90k old

  • A lot cheaper than the Sachs SRE clutch I got from them, but then I am not sure what the SRE clutch is rated to.   One thing I can confirm, is it is NOT oem feel, but it's a bloody good clutch!  If

driven properly?

Or you mean driven like a boy racer (you) that has no mechanical knowledge of how things work and should be used correctly? :)

I didn't think it was physically possible for dual mass to slip..?

On another note my 300lbft has been been running through my (slightly damaged) standard setup for nearly a year with no slip or problems. I am actually waiting for a real reason to replace it but, touch wood, it keeps on gripping.

My clutch has the following symptoms;

A donk when slotted into gear

A rattly squeak when the engine is turned off

a rattle on initial start up

Despite this it performs perfectly. ideas?

Engine mount too much play /\

why does that class me as a boy racer you idiot! What's the point in having all that torque if it's not going to be used properly that's my point ! Oh hang on I'll put my foot down to overtake after the torque band has already been and gone? Makes sense.

Do you think Jase?? I need to have a gander.

Yes either the gearbox one

Or the dogbone mount

Or the dogbone mount

I changed my dogbone mount for a powerflex one and the engine stopped rattling when I turned it off

Ill only get clutch slip if I just dump the gear changes. (Which I never do)

Still on standard clutch and flywheel as far as I know and handles my power perfectly :/

So, in this thread you've taken all the constructive input threw it back at people saying they drive like pussy's and calling them idiots, for not driving like they stole it........

At the end of the day, it sounds like you need an uprated clutch and that's fair enough. But you can drive it on the standard clutch you just need some mechanical sympathy, something which it appears you are clearly lacking.

yep that's correct, the fact that I knew I needed an upgraded clutch in the first place which was what the post was about and then you were telling me their is no need for one because I only had a 150 turbo sort of Pee'd me off. I don't need people like you telling me how to drive my car, I don't drive it like I stole it, I use the low down torque like it's supposed to be used hence why the clutch is slipping. I know the clutch is going to go soon so there is no point in having sympathy with it because it's just going too last longer which I don't want it too, I'm just not putting a new one in untill I can't drive it anymore.

What do people think of this?

Why? Not everyone might know, that's why I also asked if you were still planning to go Hybrid, at which point it made perfect sense.

I'm not everyone and it was obvious I knew as I was the one posting and saying I wanted an Updated clutch lol. Let's stop bickering now, I need a new clutch and I'm going bigger turbo end of. Lol

Haha don't get on here that much now due to work, but from what I've seen go Helix

Because you must drive like a boy racer to get such bad clutch slip,or is it just a lack of driving skill and using too much accelerator when the clutch is not fully released?

As the cause of most clutch slip is giving the car too much gas after changing gear before the clutch is fully released :)

there's nothing technical to go by here mate so stop trying to make me look a fool, I'm using a clutch that is 93k old that was designed too hold 220FtLb's of torque, not about 330. Get off your high horse we ended this a while ago.

I blew a standard clutch at 33k miles on a stage 1 remap

Pah, my mother in law did that in her 1 litre Micra.

Common sense says if you are nearly doubling a cars power and adding a load of extra torque and you want to use it then the clutch and flywheel will need attention. You could drive round all day with a hybrid 150 running 240bhp and drive it nice and steady and have no issues. Give it some stick and make use of the power and you'll have issues.

Anyway, on topic, for me it's a Helix everytime. Tried and tested and no more expensive.

Mine started to slip when I booted it off an island once in 3rd gear - granted I probably rode the torque a bit before the revs built up. For the next few weeks I drove it about carefully but was worried about booting it incase it gave up.

Maybe I could have got another 12 months out of it driving carefully before splashing £900 on a helix but I'm glad I did now :)
