8/2011 11 plate 2nd owner fsh 2 services had the car from end of November 2013 and on 15870

still a 08/2011 plate haha and just gone over 22200 this weekend with all the shows I've done this year

I wouldn't wander into another (model specific) forum to repetitively tell people they've bought a **** car - it's a complete lack of manners.

I just laugh at all the negative comments I read on here about the little MK2. Some of them I agree with, for example the harsh ride mixed with cabin rattles are really starting to annoy me!

But no car is perfect, if it was, everyone would buy it!

The MK2 is perfect for me at this moment in time so that's all I really care about.

Like you, I do think it is uncalled for members who have never owned / driven or lived with a MK2 VRS for a substantial amount of time to jump on the criticism bandwagon.

Maybe we should be more like the Yeti Sub forum? And put up a Firewall that doesn't allow interaction with non MK2 Fabia owners? :giggle:

Genuinely if I had read this forum before placing an order I would have ended up with a focus St estate or a Megan sportswagon

I do like the Focus ST estate - what do they come in at?

Late 20's I believe. You can pick up a 12 plate  for £16k

Ouch - quite pricey!

20 ish if your happy to have something off the shelf as it were

I keep toying with the idea of one next.

But I think it really would kill me on fuel bills! :-(

61 plate. Nearing 21k. No mechanical or oil issues.

I agree though that the negative stories on this forum have made me lose any trust in the car for the long term.

I've never encountered anything like it either!

I should really avoid this forum because the constant negativity is depressing - often from people who have never owned one (criticism from past / present owners who have had problems I can more than understand). I had a MKI vRS - the reason I joined here - but I have not troubled the MKI forum once since I got shot of it. Quite why people need to get the boot in (again and again) is bizarre - I wouldn't wander into another (model specific) forum to repetitively tell people they've bought a **** car - it's a complete lack of manners.

Too true, but that being said it's an open forum and IMHO it's fine for someone who has owned and run one of these cars previously and not liked it/experienced problems with it to post as such, just because you no longer own the car is that really reason not to post in the model threads anymore?

It's those that haven't stepped foot in one or possibly test driven one for the briefest time and post negatively that gets me as they are really in no such position to make such judgement. There are also the usual suspects on Briskoda who are verging on trolling that just like being overly blunt/out of order to start an argument. That I've seen far too many times.

I'm happy to admit I did not like our Fabia v much as whilst the engine was fantastic (and a CAVE engined car that never gave any major causes for concern mechanically) it just didn't drive well enough for my liking so got sold after about 18 months. I still think it's an awful lot of quick small car for the money though and more reliable than people would have you believe, certainly served us well in the time we had it and didn't let us down.

With regards to oil usage I think it's also worth making a point that lots of VAG turbo petrol use oil, it's not necessarily an indication it's knackered and is going to blow any moment; it's more the inconvenience keep having to top up more so because it gets expensive. Mine wasn't bad ans toward the end was doing a litre perhaps every 4.5k but I can understand people getting annoyed when it's using a litre every few hundred miles.

2011 24,679 on the clock. Original engine! Woohoo :-)

Agree with what some if you guys are saying. Some very negative comments flying about. I spent months researching on here before I bought mine. I was aware of the issues that some people were having but it didn't put me off. For the price, performance, style and looks, it was a no brainer for me.

Don't get me wrong, yes there are things that I think could be better. There are a couple of things that annoy me but you're never going to get a car that's perfect in every way. I'm yet to own a car that I've been 100% happy with. I could spend 160k on a Ferrari and they'd be things that I wouldn't like about it :-)

Anyway, now 22,200 (30/09/10).

Just had it MOT'd this afternoon - jings, that's nerve wracking :p - I couldn't concentrate on anything until I got the call to collect. All it needed was new wipers.

Oh, and if anyone is looking for a VAG specialist in Glasgow, David Mylett is the place to go. I got it MOT'd there as I trust them 100%. I hadn't used them in over three years (as get my MKII serviced by a dealer) but they still remembered me and my MKI vRS.
