It's a warranty job I'm afraid - just had mine done last month. The strange thing is it failed sometime after last winter, when it worked fine on the half dozen times I used it, yet the passenger seat is trouble free. My daughter uses the heated option at full power just about every time she's in the car if it's any where near cold, so it's been used at least 10 times as often.

I'm not aware of a DIY fix.  The driver's heated seat cushion has failed twice on mine.  The first time it was fixed under warranty, the second time I didn't notice the failure until the car was just out of warranty (as in: no more than a couple of days) since I had had no need to use it up until that point.  It took a bit of wrangling to get Skoda to pay the majority of the replacement cost.  However, at the current failure rate the latest replacement should fail while it is still under warranty* so I'll just need to make sure I check it before that runs out!

Going by the number of reports on here, it does seem to be failure-prone component.  It is not cheap to get it replaced so a DIY fix, if one exists, would be valuable to know about.

* 2 years, Skoda standard terms for dealer repairs - but excluding repairs carried out under the car's warranty, which seems a bit mean, and was why I had to argue to get a decent goodwill contribution towards the second replacement.

What actually needs replacing then, is it some sort of heating element, or is that embedded in some larger component (whole seat base?).

Wonder how easy it is to DIY. Anyone done it ?

When I do eventually find myself a Yeti, it'll be an Elegance spec and will probably be out of warranty, so would be interested to know.

Heated seats are one of the things I'm looking forward to, having had them in the past.

I watched part of the process when my first yeti was repaired under warranty. seat off and upturned and base cover removed new element-think electric blanket-and cover re-stretched and clipped. seat re-fitted and electric connections re fitted. I'd want some advice about disconnnectiion of on and re-connecting air bags as they can be problematic. Experience of upholstery techniques would be useful.

Buy a car with working elements or negotiate a reduction at manufacturers price.

If buying from a dealer I'd expect a significant warranty period.

OK thanks, so in theory it's DIY-able then.

Any idea how much the replacement element is ?

In theory anything is DIY-able!  In theory...

Yes, fitting mud flaps........................

Apparently that has got a little bit harder to do on the new F/L rear mudflaps.
