Reminds me of porridge sandwiches, though that one probably is anecdotal... OTOH, oats do lower cholesterol - just need a decent tippling of single cream on top to "eat it through" so to speak, plus some nice crunchy brown sugar on top ...

Lol back on topic people! Friend of mine went to Prague so visited Skoda whilst over there.... She was told not to call it S-K-oda but...

"Shh-koda"

Learn something new each day.... also dealers corrected us when when called Octavia "Oct-A-via" told us its "Oct-ahh-via" (sounds posher too!!)

Shkoda is the wa it's supposed to be pronounced...and it IS Oct-AHH-via..but you're all wrong about Fabia..it's pronounced Fa-biyah...like Mariah... I've got a Shkoda Fabiyah...

Only Sean Connery as James Bond calls his a 'schkoda ' Mil :)

Qwite sho, Mish Moneypenny! (James Bond style) When I put my *Farbia* in for service, they told me I had to wait for "this car" - "Oh! an Oct-ah-via!", said I! Lady Muck or what? And if anyone says Elizabeth Bucket, fisty-cuffs it is then...

Back on track again, is that what that little symbol on official write-ups from ColinD means.

I think we should be told...

Just happened to catch sight of it in the TV progs guide, remembered that it was apparently a very popular programme, and that it was pronounced "bouquet". Seemed appropriate to this thread somehow, don'tcha know.

on the ads for the new Octavia, they pronounce it Octarrvia...... but I don't like that lol so I call mine Ozzy ;) - or octayvia when pushed ;)

As for fabias.... fabbier is how I pronounce it ;)

I heard from my dealer that Fabia and Octavia were names of 2 daughters of the founder ?! Is that true?

Mine is mostly referred to by others as "eugh you drive one of THOSE!"

Can you guess what the response is to that kind of comment??????

For the record, mine is referred to as "oc-tay-via" in general conversation.

probably true. They are real names and you have different 'versions', you got Fabiana and Octavian.

IMHO:

Fabia = Fab E Ah (like the female name Fabien - Fab E En)

Octavia = Oct Ay Via (like the female name Octavia I suppose!!)

However, people who work in Skoda dealerships generally seem to refer to them as:

Fabia = F AAAAAY Bia (like nothing I've ever heard before)

Octavia = Oc TAR Via (Hah!)

I pronounce Mondeo as Mon-dayo never heard any one pronounce it Mon-deo.

A guy at work always pronunces it Mon-deo and it always sounds wrong! Probably is correct according to ford but Mon-dayo is how everyone knows it!

they were going to be named if i remember the Fabian and the Octavian... how ever the adverts always say it really classy like the ne skoda

Oct ah veea or the new faaah bia vRS!

Apparently, Mondeo means Global car or World car. Can't remember where I heard that from but we are a supplier to Ford Motor Company. Probably some BS that the engineers were givig us! :D

Anyway, I think the pronunciation is down to the area you like in.

Up North we tend to say Fab-E-Ah & Oc-Tay-Via. Down South it's Fay-Be-Ah & Oc-Tar-Via.

Yes, one owns an Oc-Tar-via (posh voice)!

I like what someone on here called their Superb... Super B!

Nice to own a 2 syllable model...and there can be no debate over its pronouciation.... Su-perb :D:D:D

no no no thats not posh enough! its oct TAH via as one would say certanly not oct TAR via sounds like a farrrrrmer said it! tut tut toodle pip!

Or Suh-perb like someone I know who says it like that...

Useless question, really, as all of the given options are severely hampered by your English pronunciation... :D
