Octy and Furby, job done :D

My Father pronounces his as "BMW"

My Wife pronounces hers as "Ren-Oh"

My mate pronounces his as "Hon-da"

Another mate pronounces his Fo-cus as "Sh-ite"

I agree with ChrisG :)

Their marketed all over europe with the same model names, so I'd pronounce them as they're said in Czech republic where the cars are built.

Words/letters are pronounced phonetically over there, exactly how they're written.

I.e. for Octavia it's Oct-a-via, with the 'a' sounding like it does in the word apple in english.

And Fabia it's Fab-ia, with the 'Fab' sounding like the start of the word Fabulous in english.

:)

Skoda is pronounced 'Sh-koda' if said correctly.

It's a definet F'A'beeah, rather than F'AY' beeah for me. I have this argument with another briskodian most weekends :D

Octavia is just Oct'ay'via, as in the girls name like Josh says. Which kinda stuffs my Fabia pronounciation but it just doesn't sound right to say it any other way.

I guess the CZ pronounciations are the most appropriate to use.

Oct-ah-via sounds pretty much like I'd expect CZers to say it; I know from work that the people next door to CZ (Bavarians) pronounce Panavia as 'Pan-ah-via' whereas Brits tend to pronounce the word as 'Panay-via' (much like Oc-tay-via).

tomato tomaytoe lets call the whole thing off....

It's got to be as it's spelt, Fabia and Octavia , not Fahbia and Octahvia - that just sounds stupid, pretentious and poncey. Then again there's no 'R' in Bath either but some people insist on pronouncing that as Barth.

I'm guessing that the Czechs may not pronouce things exactly as we do , hence the ah sounds

You could well be right, but if even if that's how they're pronounced in the Czech Republic it sounds a bit silly in the UK, bit like BMW is really BWVey and Porsche is 'Porscher' but hardly anyone here would dare use that at risk of humiliation. Then again in the US I heard people pronounce Honda as 'Honday' WTF?

Nope , thats Hyundai that they pronounce as hun-day

I've only ever heard Octavia pronunced like the girls name, and I've only ever heard it pronounced faybia by one person, but that was by a man how should know...sounded weird/wrong though.

I've also heard people pronunce it bry-skoda, despite the definition at the top of every page...

I'm a fab-ee-ah and oct-ay-vee-ah person myself!!

but, how do you say the brand name?? On the Roomster advert it says shkodder - and I can honestly say I've never heard any of you call it that!! nut I'm guessing thats what the accent thing is for?

skoda felicia= fellatio :-)

I blame Sean Connery for the Shkoda pronunciation - I reckon the Skoda factory operatives are all early James Bond fans :D
