posted the other day I was having issues with the battery fuse terminal heating up and melting, was advised to change the terminal and replace the thick black wire that runs from it to the alternator, so phoned my local skoda dealer this morning for a price, I know the terminal was going to be a bit pricey but nearly fell off my seat when I was told the cable was £50.53 ... so my question is this, can I have a custom cable made up and does anyone know the length and specs of this cable?

Yes, and no.

Any decent electrical factors should be able to supply you with the cable and connectors required. I had the same cable develop a high resistance on a Peugeot I owned, so I removed it, took it to a local motor factors, and they matched the cable and connectors - and all I had to do was solder the ends on.

So you'll either have to remove the cable to have a look at it - or maybe find one at a scrapyard or on ebay, and either fit that one, or use it as a template to get a new one made.

IIRC, that cable will also have two pairs of wires sleeved with main alternator cable. One pair goes to the a/c and the other carries the alternator control signals. All for wires go to a connector that joins the loom above the starter motor.
