I had a celica t sport 189bhp for a few months after i sold my civic and it was a great car for the £2000 i paid for it. Leather interior and climate control as standard. Toyota also do a corolla which you can get in supercharger form too!

 

EP3 type r's are cheap nowadays as well , bullet proof motoring. Not the quickest as in torque wise but around the bends and around a track will be great fun!

 

Save up a little more and go for a S2000

Really Cliff how hard can it be to choose a car?   Just get one, they are all the same'ish and do the same job. 

Clio 182 definitely! A true hot hatch and actually can get fairly decent mpg (for a 2.0 vvt) on a run apparently!
