I know the MkIII has only just come out and first impressions are very important.

A lot of people now get their cars using PCP and at the end have to give the car back or buy so will your next car / PCP be an Octavia.

For me (it's a long way off yet) it will have to be maybe, not because I don't like the car it has to be the best car I have had so far.

Now I have ACC I cannot see my next car not having it and if it is not available on the next Octy then I think I will be looking elsewhere.

Difficult call. Just got my new 2.0 TDi Elegance estate and overall (so far at least) prefer it to the MK2 vRS its replaced.

I kind of knew it would be the case but its just not the kind of car I get excited about driving; its a fabulous motor (I think its actually about all the car any average human being would ever need) but suspect my next car will end up being a more emotive purchase.

Also has to be said if you look past the improved perceived quality there are some obvious areas where VAG have clearly cut costs over the MK2; I know the MK7 Golf is just the same. Light doors that dont quite thunk shut like those of old, cheap leatherette on the seats, even cheaper plastics on the lower dash and door trims. Id say given that whilst the car is still a relative bargain its by no means a cheap car and some of the attention to detail in this respect does disappoint if I have to be brutally honest.

However I know the 150 TDi engine is a peach and is still v tight; reckon it will become more rewarding to drive once it has a few miles under its belt.

If I did happen to buy another O3 down the line; will either be what I have now or a vRS TSi if running costs are less of a concern. Otherwise maybe something from a premium german marque; lots of good PCP deals around on Merc's, BM's etc and they are difficult to ignore.

I would definitely have another Octavia. Maybe a vRS depending on the spec available at tbe time.

We hit the autobahn once a year and so a fast tourer is important to me. Skoda would need to keep the gadgets and sporty looks for me as I think the Golf is dull in comparison.

Looking at long term ownership at the end of PCP is also a factor as the VW group is (relatively) cheap to maintain. I don't think I'd ever buy a Merc/ BMW as I've been a VAG man since childhood.

I'm on the PCP and will more than likely just hand the car back and look elsewhere, see what deals are around at the time and what type of car fits our needs. I usually start off with the idea of finding something that is quicker than what I've had but pragmatism always takes over.

My last five cars over the last 10 years have all been new but every one hss been a different brand. Renault to Mazda to Vauxhall to Chevrolet to Skoda.

I certainly couldn't do what my father in law has done and traded his burgundy mazda 6 estate after 3 years for another burgundy mazda 6 estate same mark.

Obviously financial situation in three years time will be a factor as well in deciding what I buy.

Personally I think it's impossible to tell at this stage.

I'll wait until I have owned the car for at least 18 months, encase the MKIII vRS suddenly decides to deposit it's engine in many parts on the motorway. Or the door falls off lol

Basically until I am satisfied that it is a) reliable, b ) easy to live with, c) A pleasure to own, and d) what other deals are out there when I start to look I will not decide on it's successor.

Once a Skoda driver always a Skoda driver - or so I'm told. Next car will be a SO3 for sure and after that may be the next generation SO4.

I'll be chopping my Mk3 VRS in at the end of the year(better order the new very soon!!!) for another VRS with more options on this time maybe change the colour to that yummy looking metallic metal grey. No other car comes close, I've had a look at loads beemers, mercs etc but at around 16k tax free the VRS is still many many thousands of pounds cheaper(8-10k).

matty. one of the lads here has just ordered one ( after being in mine!) been told 20 weeks...

got my mk3 elegance at start of year and dead pleased with it. had been saving up to by one for the last few years but when't with PCP and still have the final payment in a isa. will buy my car at the end of three years and wait for the mid-term face lifted Octavia to come out as long as the spec' sheet is up to scratch i,e. ACC and front radar, toys are a must!

regards

Colin

It's 'José' :)

For me it will just be like every other time, look at what's available, buy the one I think is the best car for the money. Just so happens that my last 5 cars have been Octavias.

I wouldn't mind the new Octavia vRS 300bhp

If I order it now.. I might get it by 2017

It's still too early to say.

You might find the MkIV Octavia around in that time.

For me it depends on personal circumstances and if they're any good, then it depends on the engine types available & so on.
