Suspension mods - I'm confused

Featured Replies

Mrs T and I are very happy with our Fabia vRS, but I would like to improve the handling a little as well as improve the look without affecting the ride quality (unless it can be improved!).

From reading various threads it seems that the rear anti roll-bar (ARB) is the best value improvement to handling, so that's definitely on the list. Is there any difference between the H&R item and the Whiteline one? And does adding the front ARB improve things still further, or upset the balance?

I would also like to lower the car. I'm not interested in coilovers but would like to remove the "it looks like its on stilts" look. The choice is wide - Eibach, H&R, VW Racing etc etc. I've used Eibach before and they have been brilliant; are they the best choice for the Fabia vRS? Has anyone tried the VW Racing springs? They are expensive and only lower the car 20mm front/25mm rear so not a significant change.

Grateful for any comments, or links to threads I may have missed.

I had Eibach pro kit (spring and damper) on my mk1 and that was a very good compromise of looks/handling/comfort/price/quality of product and from the homework I've done looking at what's available for the mk2 I'll be looking to do the equivalent kit for the mk2 when the weather turns warmer and then consider the rarb after.

H&R is the stiffest because it doesn't use drop links ;) together with front would be best handling improvement, I have the eibachs that work well.... Does make it harder, but I much prefere the combination of RARB and eibachs to standard :) much more body control !

Have you got a link to that Eibach kit? Or a model number? It sounds like an ideal combination for me, but I keep finding the springs on their own, without the shocks.
