Sparkly's Mk2 vRS (now sadly returning to stock)

Hi Guys,

I've been posting for a little while in the Mk2 section and have decided that there are no longer enough active Mk2 Fabia vRS threads, so I am starting my modest little project.

I have had the car running stock since February and am going to be working backwards a little to catch up on work done so far and then bring things up to date and looking to future plans

I bought the car at a shade over 31k miles from Lookers Skoda Manchester, fell in love with the car after test drive, the engine and gearbox utterly sold it for me. Car was specced in Rallye Green with 17" Black Gigaro's and from the options list only had the full climate control. Sadly the original mats were half inched by the valeter's and I never saw a resolution on this with Lookers. The car had a knock from the osr suspension are and some minor rattles, all resolved nicely under warranty with DM Keith Huddersfield. Had a minor wobble that the car might be going through oil when first joining Briskie but this turned out to be first 1.4tsi owner nerves, touch would to date it has barely used a drop.

I will try to keep updates coming but this has the potential to be a slowish burner, only time will tell. Plenty of catch up to do to bring things up to date anyway. So I shall get posting.

To whet your appetite here are some shots of "Mean Green" when pretty new to me, getting his first bath.

Oh yeah that's purple snow foam. For anyone interested it is Autobrite Direct Snowfoam attachment on a Karcher K2 p/w using Autobrite Purple Magifoam, it's the Mutts undercarriage. Shot's taken around ten minutes after application.

Couple more after shots from the detailing session, LSP was actually Turtle Wax ICE Synthetic Paste Polish, gave great results, super easy to work with and smells fab. Now have a collection including Poorboys Nattys Paste Wax White, Collinite's and others. Should make a return to the ICE though as it was v impressive.

So after much deliberation this was my first performance addition. I was very lucky to pick this up off the Briskie for sale section. I had set myself the task of only buying quality and only buying mods that won't be superseded and need replacing, this will become more relevant later on in the thread. This is a VWRacing example but it is essentially a rebranded ITG Maxogen. It makes a great noise without being excessive and even on a stock car it felt like it freed up some performance, car feels more 'willing'

Does that flexi-tube simply end behind the headlight there? With no funnel on the end?

That is correct, apparently designed that way by ITG because that is an area of high pressure air, the section behind the battery acts like a 'ram', someone with more technical smarts than me can possibly confirm the validity of this

If you dismantle the front slam panel connection for the OEM you can see that it doesn't draw that much air anyway albeit it looks better and less Heath Robinson than the ITG set up.

......however the ITG does give proven gains on mapped cars, important if you plan to go stage 2.

I also swapped out my front tyres for some Vredestein Ultrac Cento's really nice tyre, good dry grip, amazing in the wet and quiet as a mouse.

Small review here. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/286216-vredestein-ultrac-cento-mini-review/

Some of these photos are a touch out of sync, those eagle eyed readers will note a distinct reduction in arch gap..........well, keep reading :)

Bigger front brakes? :)

Don't encourage me please, I just posted elsewhere they are an absolute must, I have my eye on a set of R32 golf Mk IV twin pot 334mm fronts.

I'm still catching my thread up to present day but with handling and power upgrades comes great responsibility...............and by that I mean new brakes, hmm with new rubber oooh or just new alloys 8j???

........can someone tell the gremlins in my head and on my iPad screen to be quiet
