Pocket Sat-Nav for

Featured Replies

I can't remember the model number now, but it was some form of Medion pocket sat nav thing (can use whilst walking around town too) - Was in Makro at

I always use my tomtom now, especially in unfamilliar countries or driving in places I dont know in the UK. Especially usefull with the speedcamera database loaded, stick in the postcode and house number and you are taken right to the front door. No need for maps, or looking out for road names/signs, you can keep a safe eye on the road and just follow the instructions.

My uncle bought that nav from Makro, he liked it a lot for a week before the screen suddenly went blank for good. Probably a loose ribbon or something inside, but he didn't want to mess about so he returned it.

He did say that it had a speed camera database a la Tomtom though. Sounds like fair value, shame about the build quality.

Well, my mate went and got the Bluemedia Sat Nav from there when they had a

The PDA ones are pretty good but I'd go for a decent branded PDA with TomTom rather than a cheapie make with unheard of software.

Navman , have brought out a PDA version pin 570 , latest Navman software ms office compatible , integrated GPS , car kit ,

You can get a Mio 168 with built-in GPS PDA running WM2003 for just around

Look on ebay, many pda based kits all in for

My boss bought one of the Makro ones. It's rubbish though his pride is refusing to accept it as he has scratched it already and can't return it. I'm in Northern ireland which according to most UK based companies is a foreign country. Yeah right, were more british than they are. Anyway ehat i'm getting at is that SatNav data tends to be poor for here anyway. But this Makro job took him round the world for a packet of biscuits. Then he went on a long journey and covered the 1st 5 miles using a shortcut the SatNav didn't like so it went into a huff and didn't talk to him again until he was nearly at his destination (nearly 100 miles away).

Stay clear. Stick with Tom Tom or Navman

I've been using the Medion satnav software for nearly a year now. Until Tomtom 5 came out it was as good as any system I've used. It uses the same mapping as Tomtom (Teleatlas) and that seems to be the important factor. I've also had no problems with the Medion PDA

Systems I have tried and should be avoided at all costs are, Destinator and Navman.

HTH :)

TomTom go is great. Nice touch screen, post code search, and I can have thanks to someone on the briskoda forum, Darth Vader or Clint Eastwood giving me directions. Tom Tom is probably better than some built in premium car brand sat nav's I have used. Nice little piece of technology.

Just placed an order for the Navman PDA 570 , it has the latest Navman GPS , runs Teleatlas software , links to MS Office , integrated GPS receiver , MP3 player , currys website
