Mr muscle turbo clean

Featured Replies

Update 2

Hello,

Mr Muscle has cured the turbo's sticking veins or so it seems! Day 3 after the clean and several road tests ragging the dogs in 2nd gear out of it, and NO limp mode...  BUT.......

I thought I have to give it a go from cold and yes at 4000 RPM it dropped into limp mode again? I then turned it off to reset it and went for it again, but this time it went all the way up to 5000 RPM in 2nd and NO limp mode??? At this point the engine was still not up to full temperature??

Any thoughts anyone,

Cheers.

How smooth is the actuator control arm movement on the turbo?

If you have rust on the control ring side then mr m will only help a bit.  Normally once you have un-jammed it in a drive it will be ok.  Leave it parked up for a while and it will be back again.

Ragging it isn't necessarily the cure - you need to get the actuator to keep moving, simply ragging it will just keep it in one place, imho.

It seems free as a bird to be honest? some told me to stick it in 5th on the motorway and keep dipping the accelerator (up and down)?

If it is really free, then that suggests you have other issues - have you checked all your vacuum pipework.  It might be a faulty n75 or MAP sensor (although not sure why cleaning the turbo would have given you a few days saving grace)

This muscle thing in the turbo is so wrong...

Still under testing for a week or so, then if still getting limp mode will try changing the map sensor as I have a new one in the garage. Thanks for all your advise and comments, will keep you undated.

Will be interested to see how you get on with changing your MAP sensor... I found mine was a right PITA to undo the securing screws

I agree. The only thing I want in my turbo is clean air!

You guys are kidding right? You put the mr muscle in the hot side, i.e. the side that has unburnt diesel, soot, hot oil (edit: oh and gets rusty) etc pumped through it. Mr Muscle may do some damage if you did it very regularly or left it for 8 hours but ultimately it is worth it for the fact it cures a lot of boost issues.

You can also spray water into the diesel intake tract to steam clean the engine...IMO this carries far more risk and I've done both.

Will be taking the headlight out to get easy access to the map sensor...
