Hi all,

 

Is it possible to replace the gear knob (manual 6) on a MKII as opposed to the whole gaiter? The silver plastic trim on mine has a few flakey bits ( wedding ring damage ) and I'd like to fit a new one (facelift if possible) ...

It's a real nuisance alright. Mine flaked away on the 11 model and kept catching my hand but I never changed it. aFAIK it can be changed without the gater as you can buy gear knobs on the web for pre FL. The FL is much better as they got rid of the chrome and rounded it off nicely. It actually feels neater. The gater looks the same on both models is I reckon the FL component would fit.
