2.0 tdi dsg mpg

Featured Replies

Am thinking of buying a 2007 octavia 2.0tdi dsg. Official figues say a combined mpg of 47.. is this realistic to achieve. Also it has 60k miles with full history, should there be any schedualled work coming up for it. I would love to here from people that have the car about their mpg

Regards

What power output is it? The cambelt should have been done at 4 years in the UK, so would need doing in the next 12 months I guess if the same rules apply in Ireland. Factor in the cost of changing the water pump too at the same time. Not s ure when the gearbox oil needs changing in the dsg box, but no doubt others will know.

Yes, mines a Scout DSG so less efficient than the standard 2.0tdi  and over the last 2000 miles have averaged 47. Mixture of London and motorway and local short runs. (computer recons 50 mpg but it over reads a bit).

Have a bmw 530d manual but the maintenance is just to horrific on it over 4k in 2years. Im getting 43 mpg out of it the official combined figure is 40. If i could get fairly close to the figures for the octavia i would be very happy. Its the 140 bhp

So you are bettering the official combined figure by 7.5%. I'd fully expect you to replicate this in the Octavia.....another words 50mpg.

As already said, it does depend a lot on how and where you drive. I have got 56 mpg (calculated) from my 2.0 DSG on a careful very early morning drive to work. But this is exceptional.....most of the time the car is used for short local journeys and averages 45 mpg over the course of a tank of fuel. On a recent holiday where I drove a few hundred miles on the motorway, it managed 51 mpg.

vRS DSG 2.0CR (only 29k on the clock) as per sig..

Thats good enough for me booke23 thanks

I have one of the above, owned since it had 3000 miles on the clock to the 36,000 it has now. The average MPG on the maxidot has increased from about 38 to 43 in that time, I guess as it has loosened up. I also check the consumption more accurately using the brim to brim method and can get over 500 miles out of a tank, without being too easy on it. My last fill up revealed a consumption of 43.1 MPG.

I've got an easy commute, early mornings, then late on way home. 20 miles each way, 6 on dual carriageway, the rest on a mix of speed limits out of town, but no traffic jams or stationary traffic.

On the long average its always 52+mpg, on a good day with no lights on 56+mpg.

As an aside, the same journey in a Fabia 1.6tdi 105bhp was only a couple of mpg better, but brim to brim calculations over 11k miles it returned 56.7mpg, including all other journeys . Why do I know that ? I had a bet with a friend that it would beat 50mpg whilst still driving a lot faster on the dual carriageway than him in his petrol BMW.

It's all about the roads and the time of day !

Over 8,000 miles the average mpg of my vRs CR DSG is 43.8mpg (calculated) - the Maxidot shows almost 46mpg.  A regular 55 mile run through 30,40 & (mainly) 60 limits shows 51 on the Maxidot so actually 48-49mpg.

Prob gonna settle on a 1.9 tdi manual. Purely on reliability and economy. Love my 530d and will miss the power but, dont drive it fast anyway to save fuel and servicing/parts just too expensive! It just passed nct so gonna get looking for octy with low miles this week
