Honda Integra Type R

Featured Replies

Don't know why but I'm strangely drawn towards this mythical vehicle. 2.0 L DOHC I-Vtec engine producing 220BHP. Limited slip differential, hydraulic steering and uprated flywheel add to the attraction. 0-62 in just over 6 seconds. They're more money than a CTR, but I reckon it's worth it for the extra performance.

Anybody driven one? Could this be and every day car?

Lovely car that, always been a favourite of mine. I think they are fairly understated and subtle. I'm sure Honda have said they will no longer be making it though so if you want a new one you may have to be quick.

Nice cars & excellent for the track, but expensive to buy & run.

I nearly bought an older shape ITR.

Handle like a dream, go for it :)

Much classier than the CTR as well, they are expensive but I think residuals are strong and the market isn't flooded with them. There are a fair few Jap Imports creeping onto the market.

I thought all DC5 Integras were Jap imports. I'm pretty sure Honda didn't import any officially. The DC2 Integra Type R is supposedly a better driver's car anyway.

Feel very light and agile and really take off when you put your foot down. My mate at work bought an older one (imported straight from Japan) and that was lovely! Btw, if money is tight, check out Litchfield Imports who do a racing one for 13k ;)

I don't know the differance between DC2 and DC5 but there is definately an officially imported version.

That shape was never oficially imported. The only one that was an official UK car was the one with the small round headlights (previous shape)

I had the DC2 Teg - old style one.

SUPERB drivers car. Not as fast straight line as the Octy, but would chin porches, scoobs etc round the twisties.

The new style Teg as shown above (DC5) was NEVER officially imported by Honda. Anyone claiming it is lying. If you buy one it WILL be an import....

The new iVTEC engine is pants compared to the original 1.8VTEC lump. Buy the DC2 - you won't be dissapointed.

I used to have one but it wasnt 220 BHP - is that the import ones?

Mine was 197 BHP and I doubt I'll ever drive something quite as manic. Sounds like a touring car and there are little words to describe the effect above 6,000RPM beyond astounding.

Amazing car.

Expensive to both run and insure. :thumbdwn:

Im 99% sure if you want a brand new one you out of luck i think they have been stopped for some time now...

If they as noisy as the CTR i woudlnt get one..stick with the octy

They are noiser than the CTR, its not about refinement though, its about the driving experience - which, is manic.

2 things I did find annoying were the rear spoiler that obscures following police cars etc. and the seat fabric which does its best to make you hot and sweaty regardless of the air-con setting. Not sure if the new ones have leather or cloth seats though.

By the way, if you see one in the previous shape in championship white, reg No. R310 **E its had a good thrashing ;):D

My mate's got a '97 one in White... it's a cracking car, his has a Spoon exhaust too, which is ear-bleedingly loud!

My cousin has an old one - S-reg I think. He's very attached to it. Only been in it once, and that was in the back many years ago. Apparently very good in the snow with winter tyres on.

DC2 was the original Integra which was available as a UK car from dealers. this was the 1.8vtec - 197bhp and regarded as Hondas best handling car.

DC5 is the one above. not available as a UK car through dealers. this has the 2ltr 220bhp lump, havent driven one but like em.

Thanks Nigel, that explains it.

Great cars my friend has a dc2 modded one goes like stink keeps up with my subaru impreza , he got a 14.2 1/4 mile time at santa pod in it with just exhaust induction mods !!, and isnt as expensive to run insure as my subaru :(.

I had Greddy EVO II Zorst, AEM CAI, Exedy lightened flywheel.

Rev'd till 9700rpm - screaming like a banshee from hell - superb.

Flywheel made a HUGE difference in mine. would recommend lightened flywheels to anyone.

Gonna have to abandon this topic - i'm getting all emotional.... Wants me another one :D

The model shown is the 2005 version, with the two scoops missing from the headlights and rear lights. It's only available from import companies in the UK.

I could probably get a decent Impreza for the same money, but I don't like the idea of the higher fuel bills and insurance. Plus you don't see an ITR on the road every day. I know the ITR would be a group 20, but there are companies that deal specifically with imports and offer good discounts. Sounds like a great car, I'm getting a little bit obsessed. Litchfield seem to offer a good service, there's also Hanzo cars and Car Imports Direct.

I thought the ITR was group 18?

Forget all logic and treat yourself to one.

You can trash the **** outta these engines, just keep an eye on the oil! Mates on his 2nd ITR old typr it a Top Fuel 1 wit a B20 engine in it! And it's down on paper as the fasted n/a ITR in Ireland!
