2014 Superb L & K questions

Featured Replies

Hi I am looking at the possibility of purchasing a new 2014 Superb K & K in the near future, but have a couple of "silly" questions...

1. Do Superb's have 1 or 2 rear fog lamps?

2. Do they have the ambient lights in the interior, i.e red glow from rear view mirror, illuminated interior door handles, lights in door panels when you open the door?

3. Automatic headlamps...

4. Will the bluetooth work with the Samsung Galaxy S3? latest update :)

I am just trying to compare to my 2011 Seat Exeo which it will replace :)

The pre-facelift has twin rear foglights, but the facelift got updated rear light clusters with increased LED functionality. The rear fogs are still incandescent bulbs though so I'd imagine they still work on both sides.

The Superb does have 'cateye' illumination. This involves two white LED's in the base of the rearview mirror which casts an ambient light over the central console.

Yes, the door handles are illuminated, front and rear.

Yes, there are 'puddle lights' in the undersides of all four doors in addition to extra lights under each door mirror.

Auto lights are standard on all Superbs. The L&K is the top spec model, so not only are the headlights automatic it gets bi-xenon headlights and LED DRL'S.

You did say silly questions, but why do you need to know if it has 2 or 1 rear fog lights? Or are you a symmetry freak, and the mere fact of knowing that it's uneven is enough to drive you insane?? ;) ;)

I had a Galaxy S3 and bluetooth worked perfectly with my 2010 Elegance estate. I now have a Galaxy Note 3 and that too works fine

The L&K will be a good trade up from the Exeo - space, comfort and spec wise.  What engine do you currently have?  You won't be disappointed with the lights back or front or inside for that matter!  Lights in footwells (you can even select how bright you want them), reading lights back and front and the LEDs as mentioned above.  Also cornering lights on the front.  The bi-xenons are great and have been further improved in the FL model.   Any more questions just ask!

I am sure that I have read a thread on here that stated the FL (facelift) model only has one rear fog light working.

Getting both to work was more involved than fitting a bulb.

I am sure something else was missing or cheaper???

I would "dislike" having only one working too.

Yes, sorry to confirm my Sept 2013 L&K only has 1 rear fog  :'( - I'm guessing but I would not think they would have changed there corporate minds for 2014 models, unfortunately.

Interior lighting is able to be dimmed as you require, I would say color of light is more white then red. The central locking buttons are also illuminated on the doors when the auto self lock is in operation. Glove box and arm rest storage compartment are also illuminated PLUS you have a handy removable torch which doubles as a boot space light in the rear ! The puddle lights are not in the doors but in the base of the door mirrors, which is fine in theory but if your mirrors fold in on locking the car the the spread of light is reduced as the mirrors will not fold out on unlock - only on ignition start - not sure if this can be changed by a VCD mod or not.

The Bi-Xenons I think are the best lights I have ever had on a car and my past 5 cars have had them, they change their focus point and beam spread dependent on speed of travel and whether the wipers are on or not, on a country road at night its as if the sun has been turned back on !, they are also linked to the steering so will turn a few degrees when cornering and the fogs will also light independently to give illumination of the side of the road immediately off the front side of the car.

Can't comment on the phone  - I have an old Blackberry Bold which links up great, you will find that you can also text from the cars central screen and also read texts via the MFD between the rev counter and the speedo. You will get TV tuner, DAB radio that auto switches from DAB to FM if the DAB signal fails - which in my experience is does NOT do that often.

I looked at the Exeo last time round and would say that the Superb is a no contest winner.

Goods luck in your search, any further questions you know where we all are

I think you will find that not only are there puddle lights under the door mirror but also under the door as well. I will now check tonight to see if I am wrong or right.

Danny 57,

Quite correct, just had a look and they are indeed on base of door and in door mirror.

Had to kneel in puddle to find that out - at least it was well illuminated

I agree with all that newbie says above. Mine is a 2012 and the Galaxy S3 works brilliantly whether calls or SMS. Only annoying thing is that it is rSAP provides the brilliant features but when connected to rSAP you lose access to web data. Only when you switch off can you access the web. A very minor irritation.

This is annoying, as when I had a similarly equipped Audi, I was stopped and cautioned in France for illegal use of lights. Their fog light is on the opposite side of the car and hence told me I was not allowed to use it, Fortunately in that case the Audi had a retrofit option, I presume the Superb Fl must too.

The Exeo and the Superb MK1 had red "CatVision" leds which IMHO were far nicer that the white fitted to the MK11. I also miss the small coin box just above the handbrake, Interior lighting is much the same except for the capacity to dim the lights.and as mentioned above the improved puddle lights.

Thanks for all the replies, I expect I may have a few more questions... Lol

You have to enable WiFi, once you connect your Phone to the WiFi you have access to the Web (FaceBook etc) again.

I never disable data roaming except outside the UK, my wifi is permanently on but when the Samsung connects to the rSAP I am always denied data access. Switching off the ignition and opening the door disconnects the phone and allows me data access.

Can you suggest any setting I may be able to change?

As far as I can tell you have 3 options if you want Internet access in rsap mode.

First is an option described in the manual but I don't know of anybody who has managed to understand the basic instructions and get it working

Second is the free Play store app called Blue VPN. I managed to get this working but it seemed a bit flaky and, for example, it didn't display the map in my cameralert app, just the camera icons.

Thirdly and the best way is to get hold of the bluetooth module 3c8 035 730D This has wifi built in and allows you to connect to the internet via the phones data connection and I suppose is a form of tethering. It also allows others in the car to connect to the internet via your data as it is effectively creating a wireless hotspot

I meant WiFi in the MFD mate.

My car is a FL model so WiFi is built-in, IIRC I just enabled WiFi in the MFD, created a WiFi Hotpot (using my preferred SSID etc) and connected to it, I can take some pics later if anybody needs 'em.

Thanks for that, think I'll live with it, usually if I need internet access it's to look for a good pub/ restaurant & wife's phone can be used to do it when mine is connected.

Yes it is a pain when driving on continent I agree, check out this link to a topic that appeared earlier on this forum - its a sort of solution but I would not call it easy. I'm not sure of the final outcome either - I'll post there to see if there are any progress updates

It is possible to change the lights for driving abroad by using the travel mode, Not sure if it also changes the fog light but worth checking out.

Hi Eyhgonuk

Yes please. I have tried following the manual but I must be missing something. I have connected my phone using hands free as suggested in the manual but cannot see in the maxi dot the ability to turn wifi on. I do not have any additional phone connections fitted to the car other than the standard supply using Bluetooth for my connection.

Thanks

John

Well... big day today.... off to the dealer in York to have a test drive and order my new...shiny Skoda Superb 2.0TDi 170 4 x 4 DSG Hatch...... Can't believe I am spending £32000 on a car ... may get over the shock soon though

That includes a few of the short list of options... so factory order, have to wait about 3 months then to play......  :@

More questions will follow.....
