Hey, I've recently bought a fabia vrs 1.9tdi un modified which has a slight vibration in the gear box. This cannot be felt or seen when the car is in gear, there is no slipping of the clutch and each gear change is smooth and without problems. The only time the vibration can be felt is if I move the gear stick directly left or right, with the clutch pressed down or not pressed down. The vibration is only slight but non of my previous cars have had this and they've all been petrol, is it a thing with diesels? My cars done 76k miles and I'm wanting to know if this is normal or means that there is something horrible about to happen?

change the engine mounts m8 or inspect them

Sounds costly? I'm no mechanic

Might just be because you're used to petrol engines. Diesel engines do vibrate more.
