LED towers as tail/stop lights

Featured Replies

In the process of changing the high level brake light to LEDs. I also noticed that I have a brake side brake light out, was thinking of replacing with the 380 LED tower type just wondering on your thoughts.

Has it been done and whats the results?

Thanks.

mine are all led have you got a picture of what you mean by Tower? my side ones are just round with multiple leds...

The problem with LED in brake lights is the light is very directional, so instead of the whole brake light being lit you have a dot in the centre where the bulb is and thus more difficult to see.  Its why Audi / BMW etc. use a whole array of LED lamps in the cluster rather than a single bulb.

I had multi led side lights and as said they weren't very directional, another thing is that the car's electrical system can have a small current leak which can cause the leds to dimly illuminate strangely usually on the back.

I'd read that on another thread but it doesnt do any damage apparently. I might give these a go then. Quite like the LEDs

it doesnt do any damage, but anytime im behind a car with dodgy lights, (like ones stuck on...) i always wonder... what else doesnt work properly.. for example.... will the brake lights actually come on if this guy does brake, so i dont use his bumper as my brake system....

Yea my high level stays on for 10 mins after the car is turned off...
